We do not want to upset him!

Friday Bible Study.  May 22, 2015.

Subject: We do not want to upset him!

Why have I chosen to be this way?

1. There is a command from the Lord I have to obey!  Mark 16:15-16

He said to them: Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Plus these two:

a. John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

b. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32

2. Jesus did it this way! Luke 4:16-30

There were many widows in Israel, but only one gentile widow were chosen to help Elijah!

There were many lepers in Israel, but only Baaman the Syrian were healed!

All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. Luke 4:28

3. Jesus did it this way!  Luke 6:6-11

Jesus healed a man with an withered hand on Sabbath!

But they were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus. Luke 6:11

4. Jesus did it this way! John 10:30-39

Jesus said: The Father and I are one. John 10:30

Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.

5. Stephen did it this way! Acts 7:51-54

Stephen said to those Jews: You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are forever opposing the Holy Spirit,

just as your ancestors used to do. ... you are the ones that received the law as ordained by angels, and yet you have not kept it.

Acts 7:54 When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him.

 6. Jesus said when the gospel is preached these may happen! Matt.10:21-24

Mt 10:21 "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their

parents and have them put to death.

Mt 10:22 All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Mt 10:23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish

going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Mt 10:24 "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.”

7. Do you know why these were written? 1 Cor.10:11

a. Ezek 3:17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word

I speak and give them warning from me.

b. Eze 3:18 When I say to a wicked man, `You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to

dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will

hold you accountable for his blood.

c. Eze 3:19 But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil

ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

d. Eze 3:20 "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a

stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The

righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

e. Eze 3:21 But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live

because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself."

8. Apostle Paul did it this way! Acts 9:20-23

a. Ac 9:23 After many days had gone by, the Jews conspired to kill him,

b. Ac 13:44-45 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.

When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what

    Paul was saying.

c. Acts 20:19 I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by

    the plots of the Jews.

d. Acts 23:12 The next morning the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath

not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.

Conclusion: Here are some reasons that drove Paul done what he did! 1 Cor.9:16-17, Romans 9:1-3

What are the reasons for whatever you are doing right now?

As we see Jesus, Stephen and Paul told the truth. Preach the word of God in season and out of season! 2 Tim.4:2
