The word that save souls.
Preface: Man has 3 lives--> spirit and soul and body. 1 Thes.5:23
There are 2 ‘ands’ between these three. No one can miss this message!
1. From Ezekiel 18:4 we know when man’s body committed sin, it is the soul that did it!
2. From Ecc.12:7 we know when man is dead, his spirit returns to God. His body returns to dirt.
The problem is will the soul goes to paradise or Hades! Luke 16:22-23
A. Jesus said:
1. The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy:
I came that they may have life, and may have (it) abundantly. John 10:10
2. In reality of this life on earth, plenty possessions may look rich, but not abundant life!
Abundant life is plenty possessions plus an eternal dwelling in paradise for the soul.
3. In comparison of these 2 lives Jesus said:
Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." John 6:27
B. Food the endures to eternal life.
1. The devil said to Jesus: If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Matt.4:3
Jesus replied: It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matt.4:4
2. This is why we insist to preach the very word comes from the mouth of God! 1 Peter 4:11
Anyone preaches anything other than words from the mouth of God will be condemned! Gal.1:8
3. Man must know all words from God for eternal life are recorded in the Bible. John 16:12-14, 2 Peter 1:3
4. This is why Jesus said: Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. … John 6:27
food that endures to eternal life is food for the soul!
5. 2000 years ago Jews public did not know what Jesus mean when he said--> John 6:54
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day.
6. Jesus explains this in John 6;63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing.
The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
7. By God’s grace granted to us, plus John 1:1 and John 1:14 we know this is word that save souls!
8. Tragic continue to happen!
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. John 6:66
9. Jesus asked the 12 disciples: You do not want to leave too, do you? John 6:67
Peter replied: Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. John 6:68
Too bad, this is equivalent to anyone who leaves the church of Christ!
10. Let me say this again: You must know assuredly, all saved souls are in the churches of Christ!
C. What must we do?
1. Let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water. Heb.10:22
2. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised: Heb.10:23
3. Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works; Heb.10:24
4. Let us not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting (one another); and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh. Heb.10:25HeHH
5. Watch out for those distort the word to their own destruction!
He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters.
His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16
D. Conclusion: Matt.24:35, 1 Peter 1:24-25
1. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35
2. All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.
And this is the word that was preached to you.
3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (KJV) 2 Cor.4:3
