5. They replied: John's baptism. Acts 19:3 Mark 1:4, Ro.10:4
6. Paul said: John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. Acts 19:4
7. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is Jesus.
8. On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:5, Acts 2:38
B. From Apostle Peter’s preaching. Acts 2:36-38
1. Apostle Peter preached: Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36
2. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Acts 2:37
3. Peter replied: Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

1. He asked the disciples: Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Acts 19:2
2. In his thinking--> Disciples must have believed Jesus, repented, baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:36-38
3. Thus he asked: Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Acts 19:2
4. At this occasion, he picked believe the Lord Jesus and received the Holy Spirit to represent the whole process of becoming a disciple of Christ!
D. The way Paul taught the Philippians jailer! Acts 16:30-33
1. Jailer asked: What must I do to be saved? Acts 16:30
2. They replied: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-- you and your household. Acts 16:31
3. Paul picked believe in the Lord Jesus to represent the whole process of becoming a disciple of Christ!
4. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. Acts 16:32
5. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all
his family were baptized. Acts 16:33
E. The whole life of a disciple includes these:
1. Hearing the preaching of the wrod of the Lord.
2. Believe Jesus is Lord and Christ and the Son of the living God.
3. Repent and be baptized in the name of the Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and received the
gift of the Holy Spirit.
4. The Lord added the saved into the church. Acts 2:47
5. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together. Heb.10:25-29
6. Keep growing up in salvation. 1 Peter 2:1-2
a. Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.
b. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
7. Increase in measure of these virtues! 2 Peter 1:5-11
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control;
and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of
our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pe 1:9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed
from his past sins. 2Pe 1:10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things,
you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Each time when talk about believe Jesus this whole process has to be in mind!
