Subject: Loneliness is very dangerous!
A. Report said: In the last 30 years, Americans had become more isolated!
1. Duke University and Arizona State College of social study found this result.
2. In the last 30 years, Americans secret sharing friends had declined from 3 to 2!
3. By itself it does not look bad! But the reality is this, good friends had reduced by 1/3!
Research also found ¼ of Americans have no friends whom they can share things in the hearts!
4. Inner circle friends are getting less and less!
We do not have as many friends whom we can share thoughts in our hearts!
B. What are the reasons?
1. Both parents had to work for ends meet! Most working hours are 50-60 weekly!
2. Resident and work place are far apart! Sometimes over 1000 miles!
Not only friends, even natural family members personal contact reduced to almost zero!
3. The result of the above created loneliness in human hearts! This is very dangerous.
4. University of Michigan interviewed 2700 men and women and found!
Bankruptcy in human relation can cause death is obvious!
This is more dangerous than the three highs in human body health!
5. Loneliness can cause human desires and will power to live.
Loneliness is the main cause of depression!
C. Today, I like to share some thoughts on healing loneliness!
1. 1 Kings 18:38-39 Elijah, the prophet on Mount Carmel victorious in proving Jehovah is the one truth God over 450 prophets of Baal the idol!
2. When he faced 450 prophets of Baal, he had no fear, he had great faith in God to help him!
3. Yes, one Elijah can win over 450 prophets of Baal!
D. In this world there is this sudden drop in almost every situation!
1. 1 Kings 19:1-5 says, Elijah felt sad and scared!
2. Because he had learned that Jezebel, the lady king was out to kill him!
1 Kings 19:10 he said: I alone left and they seek to take my life!
3. Elijah’s faith in the Lord fell from hill top to the valley deep!
E. Two men walk together is better than one man walk alone!
1. God helped him to find Elisha to help him and later to take his place!
Two are better than one. Because they have a good reward for their labor. Ecc.4:9-12
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls.
If two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one be warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
A threefold cord is not quickly broken.
