Christians are Disciples of Christ.

Christians are Disciples of Christ. Acts 11:26, John 8:31-32

A.a Christians abide in Jesus’ teachings. John 8:31

1. You have heard that it was said to the people long ago: Do not murder,… Matt.5:21

But I tell you: Anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Matt.5:22

2. You have heard that it was said: Do not commit adultery. Matt.5:27-28

But I tell you: Anyone looks at a woman lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart.

3. It has been said: Anyone divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. Matt.5:31

But I tell you: Anyone divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become

an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery. Matt.5:32

4. It was said to the people long ago:

Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord. Matt.5:33

But I tell you, Do not swear at all. Matt.5:34

Simply let your `Yes' be `Yes,' and your `No,' `No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

5. You have heard that it was said: Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. Matt.5:38

But I tell you: Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him

    the other also. Matt.5:39

6. You have heard that it was said: Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. Matt.5:43

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matt.5:44

7. On the above points 5 and 6, Apostle Paul put it this way! Romans 12:19-21

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written:

"It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

8. Paul also put it this way! 2Thes.1:6-10

God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled,

    and to us as well.

This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

They will be punished with everlasting destruction… on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people

and to be marveled at among all those who have believed.

This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

B. Christians know the truth in the New Testament Bible. Test yourself on these few!

1. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--

children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. John 1:12-13

2. Jesus answered: I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of

water and the Spirit. John 3:5

3. For God so love the world, he gave his begotten son, whoever believe in him shall not perish,

but have eternal life. John 3:16

4. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised

him from the dead, you will be saved. Ro.10:9, Mk.16:16

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

C. Christians are free from the condemnation of sins. John 8:32

1. There is no condemnation in Christ. Romans 8:1

2. At time of baptism all sins were washed away. Acts 2:38, 22:16

3. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. Col.1:21

But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his

sight, without blemish and free from accusation—Col.1:22

if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.

This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and

of which I, Paul, have become a servant. Col.1:23
