Walk of faith is a war I must win!
Why do I favor, a smoker should quit smoking then come to believe Jesus!
Others may argue, a smoker should believe Jesus, so Jesus can help him quit smoking!
In our world there is this thing call addiction!
Some addicted to smoking. Some addicted to drinking. Some addicted to gambling, …
Nowadays, many addicted to face-book, QQ…
We all know addiction mean being controlled or under the power of …!
We are in a world of corruption! As Apostle Peter said:
Save yourself from this corrupted generation! Acts 2:40
To many every Sunday morning is a struggle! My body wants to do some else.
My soul wants to go to church to worship God!
How does the soul win over the body all these years!
With the help of the Spirit that says to me:
We must not stop meeting or ourselves together on the Lord’s day! Heb.10:24
A. At the end of his life Apostle Paul said: 2 Tim.4:6-8
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge,
will award to me on that day-- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
B. It is a constant war between the flesh and the soul!
1. Romans 7:23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law
of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.
2. 1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul.
3. Gal 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other;
that ye may not do the things that ye would.
4. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1John 2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abides for ever.
5. Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be:
6. Gal 6:8 For he that sows unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life.
7. 1 Peter 3:21 which also after a true likeness doth now save you, (even) baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
8. Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
9. Ro 6:20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. (NIV)
Ro 6:21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of?
Those things result in death!
Ro 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God,
the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
10. 1 Cor.7:8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.
1Cor.7:9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Conclusion: 1Cor.6:12 All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient.
All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.
May the Lord bless us and keep us always! Preach this on January 31, 2016.
