How to become I can do the good I would!
(One easy way to understand what says in the Bible!)
A. Main scriptures for this study: Romans 7:19-25
1. In reality:
For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 7:19
a. I, the soul would do good.
b. The body does what is evil which I would not.
2. One reason why I do the evil which I would not?
For all have sinned and fall short the glory of God! Romans 3:23
3. One reason to the above:
Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. 7:20
a. If I do that I would not.
b. It is sin that dwells in me that does it!
c. All I need to do is rid sin from within me!
4. This is how people end up do the evil which the soul would not!
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 7:21
a. I, the soul would go good.
b. Evil is there to prevent me from do the good I would!
5. In reality:
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man. 7:22
I, the soul, the inward man delight in doing what the law of God says.
6. This is how sin within me makes me do the evil which I, the soul would not!
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me
into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 7:23
a. If you know God’s word well enough, you may be reminded with 1 Pet 2:11--> Dearly beloved,
I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
b. Then you know why you end up do the evil which you would not!
c. It is fleshly lusts war against the soul and was able to bring the soul into captivity making the
soul unable to do the good he would!
7. O wretched man that I am!
Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 7:24
a. Man by himself is wretched!
b. By now we know why men become slaves to sin!
Committed sin and let sin dwell within!
Fleshly lusts team up with sin war against the soul and bring the soul into captivity!
8. Yes, who shall deliver me, the soul from the body of death?
B. The cure is in Romans chapter 6!
1. Romans 6:6--> For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might
be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--
a. Our old self is how we live before we are baptized into Christ. Gal.3:27
b. Here we also know the way to do away the body of sin--> nail it to the cross with Christ!
2. This is how we nail the body of sin to the cross-->
But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the
form of teaching to which you were entrusted. Ro.6:17
3. Become a slaves to righteousness.
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18
C. This is how!
1. Believe Jesus is Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36-37
2. Be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
3. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word
planted in you, which can save you. James 1:21
4. Keep growing in your salvation! 1Peter 2:2
Like a newborn baby, crave for pure spiritual milk so that ye may grow in you salvation.
