Last Sunday sermon: I can do the good I would.
Naturally today it is: What are the good I would?
A. Absolutely not things that harm the body!
1. Be sure not to commit suicide!
a. If you do not want to live for yourself, you must live for the Lord! 2Cor.5:15
b. Long time illnesses is hard, but not harder than suffer in hell forever and ever! Rev.20:10
2. Man is to love his body. Nourish and cherish his body! Eph.5:28-29
3. A man destroys his body. God will destroy his body and soul in hell! 1 Cor.3:16-17, Matt.10:28
4. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that commits fornication sinned against his own body. 1 Cor.6:18
5. You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Cor.6:20
6. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Eph.5:18
7. Frequent sick people should drink a little wine! 1 Tim.5:23
B. These are some good things I would like to do!
1. Follow Jesus is the number one good thing I, the soul, would like to do!
For in my inner being I delight in God's law. Romans 7:22
2. Receive the truth in the New Testament Bible with eagerness. Acts 17:11
In another word, I would like to be filled with the truth in the Bible.
3. I want to make every effort to do things that lead to peace and mutual edification. Ro.14:19
4. I want to make sure, no cursing words shall come out from my mouth! 1 Pet.3:10-11
For whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
5. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:12
6. I would like to seek my own good and the good of others. 1 Cor.10:24
7. I would do my best to do things that please all men, so I may help some to be saved! 1 Cor.10:33
C. These are some scriptures I would like to practice also!
1. I want to be active in sharing my faith in the Lord with others! Philemon 1:6
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Philemon 1:6
2. One who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. Gal.6:6
3. Persevere in offering sacrifices of giving in support of the preaching of the gospel! Phil.4:15-16
4. Giving in support of the Lord’s work is an added credit to your account! Phil.4:17
5. This kind of giving is fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. Phil.4:18
6. God will make sure all your needs are met according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. 4:19
7. Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 1 Thes.5:12
D. Definition of the good things I would like to do:
1. All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matt.7:12
2. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. Ro.14:19
3. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Col.3:15
4. Be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect! Matt.5:48
