Believe Jesus seriously!
Main scriptures for this study: James 1:21-22
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and
humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
A. What does it mean to believe Jesus seriously?
1. It means I am seriously get rid all moral filth that is in me!
2. It means I will humbly accept the word planted in me!
3. It means I will not merely listen to the word!
4. It means I will do what the word says!
B. More tangible detail explanation: Eph.4:17-29
1. No longer live as non-believers in the world! Eph.4:17
2. Their minds are darkened and their hearts are hardened! Eph.4:18
3. How darkened and how hardened can they be?
a. News reported, one snickers chocolate bar found to have a little piece of plastic,
all similar bars in all the work has to be destroyed!
b. Many years ago, they found a few little chicken has deadly disease, millions of little chicken
have to be destroyed!
c. Why it is when comes to religious believes, a religion was found to have deadly side effects that
kill so many innocent people all over he world!
But that religion people continue to follow and adore!
d. Human minds are darkened. Their hearts are hardened!
4. Non-believers gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Eph.4:19
5. We get rid our former way of life! Eph. 4:22
6. We put on a new life created in righteousness and holiness of truth. Eph. 4:24
7. No falsehood, speak the truth to each other! Eph.4:25
a. As I said often, after I have been in N.Y.C. 41 years, I am still not used to the way of life in N.Y.C.
b. I missed the honesty so much in the old days! We were all men of our words!
c. All we needed was say the word!
d. Nowadays, in N.Y.C. black ink on white paper with signature still can mean nothing!
e. Documentation with lawyers signatures still can mean nothing!
f. Even wedding vow which was so sacred still can mean nothing….!
g. There are so much miss trust, so much troubles, so much frustrations..,!
h. I still appreciate that line which say-- just give me your word!
8. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your anger! Eph.4:26
Think about this a little bit! If all people around us practice this!
How much better all our lives would be! Yes, just this one can rid all divorce!
9. Do not give place to the devil! Eph.4:27
Remember the NIV Bible incorrect translation in 1 Cor.13:5?
It says, love record no wrong? Please remember, it is love think no evil!
God is love! 1 John 4:16
God record all wrongs committed by all people! Rev.20:12
Learn it from God, when others sinned against you, you must remember, record it but think no evil!
This is one effective way not to give place to the devil!
10. Work hard with your own hands, God will make sure what you need will be met! Eph.4:28
11. Think about this one!
No cursing word from you and no cursing from people around you!
Your world is how much better and safer!
This is one great real protection for all physical bodies!
12. Think about this one.
You and people around you, not one ever get drunk! Eph.4:29
How much your world is better and safer!
You know how much trouble and sad things happened around the world!
13. As I said, last Sunday: Let no one argue about drinking wine, get drunk or not!
Just read 1 Tim.5:23--> Stop drinking only water,
and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
As I said, by grace of God, before I know this verse I already developed the habit of drinking only water!
Do you know why? Because I did not have money to buy other thing! Water was free where I grow up!
Yes, let no one argue with me anymore! Just read 1 Tim.5:23
Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
Do you know, you can put it this way? Frequent sick people should drink a little wine!
C. Conclusion: Fill up your heart and mind with these virtues-->
Faith in Jesus, courage, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, love for brothers, love for all people.
Increase these virtues in increasing measure!
Then sit back and expect the gate to a heavenly world wide open for you! 2 Peter 1:5-11
