Remind, point out, execute!

Remind, point out, execute!

Main scripture for this study: John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,

will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Preface:

Yes, we need the Counselor, the Holy Spirit from the Father to remind us on godly living!

The young man had a drunken problem.  He asked for my help.

He said when he walked home from work. He walked pass a bar and got in to get drunk!

I asked him: Was that the only way you can walk home!

He said there is other way too!

I said just walk the other way home!

This young man knew he had a drunken problem!

He wanted to get rid of it!

While he kept getting drunk!  He knew there is other way to walk home!

He did not realize, he could just walk the other way home!

All he needed was another voice to tell him he could walk the other way home!

A. First we must know everything needed for us to live a godly life is in the New Testament Bible!

1. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness

through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3

2. This is the truth that can save our souls! James 1:21

We must not merely listen to the word!  We must do what it says! James 1:22

3. Diligence in exercise the knowledge in the Bible!

Reading it back and fore!  Using it in our conversations with others!

4. Recognizing it is very important!  1 Tim.4:8-9

For bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise

of the life which now is, and of that which is to come. 1 Tim.4:8

This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 1 Tim.4:9

B. Worship to God on Sunday, Bible study, prayer meetings are spiritual exercises!

1. The day when we declared, we are grown ups!  No one can tell us anything!

2. Especially in a lonely N.Y.C. everyone is struggling for his own life!

Who care to remind you!  Or who dare to remind you... about what is right and wrong!

3. Many walked by the church building, smoke, spit, throw garbage, drink, curse ...

Who dare or who care to tell them that is wrong!

4. It is when come into the church, suddenly everyone is reminded he or she has to behave!

This by itself has great value for the better of the person, people around ...

5. This is spiritual exercise profitable for all things.

Having promise of the life which now is and of that which is to come!

6. How often or when was the last time someone told you that you should not curse, not drink,

not smoke, not fix your eyes on a woman, not keep fixing your eyes on your cell phone! ...

C. Apostle Peter put it this way!

1. After he told the believers to diligently add to their faith, courage, knowledge, self-control, patience,

godliness, love for brothers and love for all people! 2 Peter 1:5-7

2. They have to exercise on these virtues in increasing measure! 2 Peter 1:8

3. He added:  So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly

established in the truth you now have. 2 Peter 1:12

4. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know

that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 2 Peter 1:13-14

5. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure

you will always be able to remember these things. 2 Peter 1:15

6. Apostle Peter was resolved to keep reminding them to diligently add to their faith, list of virtues!

D. Conclusion:

Many a time, between life and death, heaven and hell, all we need is a little reminder from above!

May the Lord bless us and keep us always!  Preach this March 13, 2016.
