Apostle Peter on love life and see good days!
Scriptures for this study! 1 Peter 3:8-14
Study these scriptures line by line to show the teaching!
A. Apostle Peter wrote 1 and 2 Peter.
At the end he wrote: Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another,
love as brothers, be merciful, be courteous. 1 Peter 3:8
1. Messages in finally usually are things the writer felt had to be included!
2. The first of these is “be ye all of one mind”!
3. This was what Jesus prayed for before he was to died on the cross! John 17:20-21
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their
message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.
May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
4. Apostle Paul said this--> I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no denominations among you and
that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. 1 Cor.1:10
B. To practice these messages one has to be in a church of Christ!
1. Be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be merciful, be courteous.
2. In N.Y.C. people will think only crazy people do these things!
3. 1974 when I arrived in Flushing I preached and practiced these, then I had to change!
4. Even nowadays I try to have compassion toward everyone… people look at me and back off!
5. When people hit my car, I stop, the other car stop, I walked to say, are you o.k.?
They always look at me do not know how to answer! I think they all expect that I will yell!
7. In Flushing if you can find one to be in one mind with you, be very thankful to God!
8. Love as brothers, be merciful, be courteous. I can only feel free to do these in the church!
C. Not rendering evil for evil.
1. Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye
are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9
2. Jesus said: Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Luke 6:38
3. Paul said: Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Ro.12:14
D. Love life and see good days! 1 Peter 3:10-11
1. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that
they speak no guile: let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
2. The tongue speaks what is in the heart! Matt.12:34
3. What is in the heart tells who you are! So be very careful!
E. James had these to say about the tongue! James 3:6-10
1. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person,
sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. James 3:6
2. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made
in God's likeness. James 3:9
3. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. James 3:10
4. To love life and see good days be in Christ clear all dirt from the heart fill it with God’s word!
5. Be a new person in the Lord! 2 Cor.5:17, Gal.6:15, Eph.4:22-24
Put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Eph.4:24
G. God promised to bless and protect this kind of people! 1 Peter 3:12-13
1. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:
but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 1 Peter 3:12
2. Who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good? 1 Peter 3:13
In N.Y.C. many will come to harm you if you be followers of that which is good!
3. Still it is better. If the will of God be so!
It is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil!
4. Do not be afraid! The eyes of the Lord is against them that do evil!
