Concerning faith in Christ Jesus.

Concerning faith in Christ Jesus.

A. Main scriptures for this study: Acts 24:24-26

1. After certain days, Felix came with Drusilla, his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul,

and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus. Acts 24:24

2. As he reasoned of righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified,

and answered: Go thy way for this time; and when I have a convenient season, I will call you. Ac.24:25

3. He hoped withal that money would be given him of Paul: wherefore also he sent for him the oftener,

and communed with him. Acts 24:26

Special attention to these two statements: Heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus.

Paul reasoned of righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come.

Here preaching about faith in Christ Jesus.  Paul preach righteousness, self-control and judgment to come!

B. For what is the church of Christ? Ro.14:17-19

1. The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

2. For he that herein serve Christ is well-pleasing to God, and approved of men. Ro.14:18

3. So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another.

C. What is sin?

1. Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

2. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 1 John 5:17

D. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers.

1. For there is no power but of God; and the (powers) that be are ordained of God. Ro.13:1

2. Therefore he that resists the power, withstand the ordinance of God:

and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. Ro.13:2

3. For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And would thou have no fear of the power?

Do that which is good, and thou shall have praise from the same: Ro.13:3

4. For he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears

not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil. Ro.13:4

5. Therefore, one must be subject, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience’ sake. Ro.13:5

6. In Malaysia, gospel meeting invitation flies must clearly stated not for Malay people!

in order not to be punished by authority and not to be bothered by conscience in Malaysia,

we must not preach to Malay people in Malaysia!

This should apply in China!  Jesus' followers must not practice two different standards!

E. Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake.

1. Whether to the king, as supreme. or unto governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and

for praise to them that do well. 1 Peter 2:13-14

2. For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

As free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God. 2:15-16

3. Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. 2 Peter 2:17

4. Apostle Paul repeated this!  Put them in mind to be in subjection to rulers, to authorities, to be

obedient, to be ready unto every good work, to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious,

to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men. Titus 3:1-2

F. Let not man forget this!

1. The soul who sinned is the one who will die! Eze.18:20

2. King and Governors corrupted, failed to punish evil doers. It is their sin.

They will be punished for their sins.

3. King and Governors instead punish the “good doers”. It is their sin.

They will be punished for their sins.

4. You did not subject yourselves to their ordinance, you are lawlessness.

You will be punish for your sin!

G. Yes, ignorant people will quote Acts 4:19 and Acts 5:29 against Ro.13:1, 1 Pe.2:13 Titus 3:1-2

1. They made Peter against himself!

2. All they need is read the immediate context in these scriptures! Acts 4:18-20, Acts 5:27-29

3. They will know these were against religious authority not Roman Empire Officials!

4. Let no one say, but what about corrupted officials?  Read Acts 24:24-26!

5. Officials corrupted are their sins.  You disobey ordinance is your sin!

6. You can’t use other’s lawlessness to do lawlessness!

Conclusion: Seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

When the churches of Christ is all over, the world is in peace!

For the churches of Christ is about righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!

May the Lord bless you and keep you always!  Preach this July 10, 2016.
