Word power!

Word power!

Word may be powerful, but it depends on how the receiving end responds to it!

A. Jesus’ younger brother James wrote these!

1. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the

engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21

Yes, it is able to save your souls!

2. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 1:22

    a. This is a power ‘but’! But be ye doers of the word!

If you do not do what the word says, the word has no power!

    b. All hearers of the word only, deceive your own selves!

May be you can say, the word become powerful in deceiving your own selves!

3. It is like a man look at his face in a mirror.  Seeing something wrong but not do a thing to correct it!

4. The word is powerful when one looks at it and saw his short comings!

As soon as he saw his short comings, he corrected them immediately! James 1:23-24

It is at the time when he corrected his wrongs, the word is powerful in changing lives!  James 1:25

5. For the word to be powerful, receiving people must understand and do what it says!

6. The word, the Bible is everywhere around the world, but very few understand and do what it says!

B. Here in the church of Christ the word is powerful!

1. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God. 1 Peter 4:11

Each point of our sermon has a Bible verse for all to check!

We line up verses of from the Bible to make a biblical and logical teaching.

2. If any man minister, let him do it as the ability which God has given. 1 Peter 4:11

When we have more people who can volunteer to do certain kinds of work we serve!

3. The scripture is clear--> That God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

4. To whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. 1 Peter 4:11

C. Why do you think, here in this church all have to obey brother Chan’s word.

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou should set in order the things that are wanting,

and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee. Titus 1:5

1. The ‘thee’ in this verse is Titus.

2. Titus was an evangelist.  He is to set in order the things that are wanting.

3. He, the evangelist is to appoint worthy men to be elders in church.

All who want to know what kinds of people in the church are to be appointed elders.

   Please read Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Tim.3:1-7

4. Brother Chan is an evangelist by title.  It is printed on the church letter head.

5. This is why anyone disobey his word, he can tell them to move on!

6. We listen to brother Chan because he is an evangelist.

We listen because Titus 1:5 says, the evangelist is one who set things in order!

The evangelist is also the one to appoint elders in the church!

D. The word has power to save your souls but you have to do these!

1. With many other words Peter warned and pleaded with them: Save yourselves … Acts 2:40

2. Those who accepted his message were baptized,… Acts 2:41

3. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread

    and to prayer. Acts 2:42

4. The Lord added these 3000 saved people to the church of Christ. Acts 2:47, Ro.16:16, Gal.1:22

5. To save yourselves you must stay in the church of Christ as long as you shall live on earth!

6. Jesus said: Be ye perfect as the Heavenly Father is perfect. Matt.5:48

7. The only way to be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect is to stay in the church of Christ.

The church of Christ is the body of Christ. Col.1:18

In the church of Christ is in the body of Christ.

In the body of Christ is in the Heavenly Father. John 17:21

May the Lord bless you and keep you always! Preach this August 7, 2016.
