Believe Jesus, a mountain or a stock!
Preface:
1. Believe Jesus can be a mountain to lean on in life.
2. Believe Jesus can also be a stock on your neck to destroy you.
3. Remember what I said, in my last Sunday sermon?
4. I said, why could I often said, I can make denomination theologians speechless!
5. Base on they all say: We believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible!
A. 50 years ago I tried to help a church to be really believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible!
2. I asked the preacher a few items he preached for chapter and verse in the Bible.
3. He became angry and said, he does not care what is in the Bible!
4. I became speechless! Yes, it is easy to make me speechless!
B. A much older pastor picked up his Bibles to throw at me!
1. I tried to help a much older denomination pastor to believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible!
2. He preached Ro.10:9, say sinners need only to confess that they believe Jesus is Lord they are saved.
3. I said: But according to Mark 16:16 Jesus said:
He who believes and is baptized will be saved does not count?
5. What Peter preached in Acts 2:38-->
Everyone of you must repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins... does not count?
6. What Apostle Paul preached in Acts 22:16-->
Why are you waiting for, get up and be baptized to wash away your sins, does not count?
7. He jumped up and said: I walk bridge more than you walk road, I ate salt more than you eat rice!
You came here to teach me? Behold my table I have so many different kinds of Bibles!
And he pick up a Bible to throw at me! He wife besides him, told me to run and I did!
C. Another real life story.
1. 15 years ago I studied Bible with a 7th Day Adventist preacher for 6 months.
2. Finally, we study about name of both our churches!
3. We are church of Christ, they are 7th Day Adventist Church!
4. The problem is this. He said: They believe Jesus according to what says in the Bible!
5. I asked him, please just tell me according to what chapter and verse in the Bible.
6. He kept explaining! I kept asking: You still didn't not give me the chapter and verse!
7. He kept saying how about this, how about that!
8. I kept saying, let us finished this one first. Then we will talk about others.
9. At the next time! I said: Do you know the name of the church in the Bible?
He said: Yes, the name of the church in the Bible is church of Christ!
10. Then we wasted the rest of the two hours Bible study again!
11. The following day, I asked: Did you change your church name into church of Christ yet?
He said: No! Then I said, why do we study!
Please go change your church name than we will study together again!
He stood up gave me his person card and on the back he wrote, I hope to see you in heaven!
D. My dear friends, today I had given you three of my real life stories!
1. It is clear! This saying--> We believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible has become
a spiritual stock on their neck to destroy all of them!
2. Each time when comes to the name of their church, they all speechless!
3. No, I won't just let them go speechless! Because speechless seldom help to convert them!
They continue to deceive their own selves and others!
5. I learned to use Matt.5:37 Jesus said:
Let your yes be yes, your no be no. Anything beyond this comes from the devil!
6. When I asked: Is the name of your church in the Bible?
When they started to explain and show no sign to repent, I ask them to read Matt.5:37
7. Out there on the web, please take note! If your church name is not in the Bible, don't say,
I believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible! If you say, you are at least a liar!
E. Conclusion:
1. If you really believe Jesus according what is in the Bible!
2. Like myself, you have a mountain to lean on!
3. My mountain to lean on is the Almighty God in the Bible!
4. May this mountain be yours too!
5. Or why do you think I can preach like this for 50 some years!
6. So we say with confidence:
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Heb.13:6
7. But in order to become able to say this, you must do what is in the two previous verses!
8. Besides really believe Jesus according to what is in the Bible.
You must live a life free from these followings!
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge
the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Heb.13:4
It is true, if you do not keep the marriage bed pure, others may harm you!
God will judge you also!
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have,
because God has said: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. Heb.13:5
9. Then you can say: The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Plus you can say this also!
1. Ps 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from?
2. Ps 121:2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
This is how the Lord will help me!
1. Ps 121:3 He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;
2. Ps 121:4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
3. Ps 121:5 The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
4. Ps 121:6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
5. Ps 121:7 The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;
6. Ps 121:8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
