Friday Bible Study. September 2, 2016.
Subject: Believe Jesus must do what he said.
Main scriptures: 1 John 2:1-6
A. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. 1 John 2:1
1. Natural concern parents for their children!
2. That their children never sin as long as they live!
3. This is the most important for all concern!
Glory to God, glory to parents, to family, friends, brothers and sisters, ..
4. How can this be a reality!
B. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1
1. When we have A. why do we need B?
2. Just in case!
3. Yes, we all hope children never sin!
4. At baptism we died to sin. How can we live in sin any longer? Romans 6:1-2
5. Can we live in sin to make God’s grace more abound? By no means!
6. This is to be a remedy just in case not an excuse to sin!
7. Christ the righteous is our advocate!
8. After sin is committed, there must be punishment! Otherwise there is no righteousness!
9. Christ is able to make that righteousness is practiced!
C. Jesus is our atonement sacrifice! 1 John 2:2
1. Sinner get punishment for their sin in physical term.
2. Christ is here to make sure that our souls will be saved.
3. Believers sinned after baptism, they are to repent and pray to God for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9
D. Jesus is also the atonement sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
1. These people have to hear the gospel, believe Jesus is Lord and Christ.
Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins! Acts 2:36-37
2. Then they have to stay inside the church of Christ to maintain their salvation! Acts 2:47
3. There is no other way but through Jesus. John 14:6
E. How do we know who really believe Jesus? 1 John 2:3
1. And hereby we do know that we know Christ, if we keep his commandments. 1 John 2:3
2. The one most obvious identity is this! Is he or she a member of the church of Christ!
3. Is he or she attends worship on Sunday in a church of Christ!
4. Yes, there are a lot more! Such as obey their parents, honor and respect their preachers,….
F. Remember I said, if you can’t do what says in the Bible, it is better not to believe Jesus?
1. He that says: I know Jesus and keep not his Commandments is a liar! 1 John 2:4
2. I believe “know Jesus” one of the meaning here is believe Jesus! What do you think?
3. Remember John 8:31-44?
4. This is plain English! Even, I, John Chan know!
G. And the truth is not in him! 1 John 2:4
1. Jesus said to the having believed Jews, if you abide in my teachings you are really my disciples.
2. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free! John 8:32
3. This is another reinforcement for the statement:
If you can’t abide in Jesus’ teachings, it is better that you do not believe Jesus!
H. But whoso keep his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:5
Conclusion:
1. He that said he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked!
2. These were written, so that no one can be deceived!
