Marry the one we love or love the one we married?

Marry the one we love or love the one we married?

A. Jesus on marriage: matt.19:3-9

1. Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason? Matt.19:3

2. Marriage is a male and a female become one flesh. Matt.19:4-5

3. So they are one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Matt.19:6

4. Jesus said: I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness,

and marries another woman commits adultery. Matt.19:9

B. Apostle Paul on marriage:

1. A wife must not separate from her husband. 1 Cor.7:10

2. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband.

And a husband must not divorce his wife. 1 Cor.7:11

3. To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is

willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 1 Cor.7:12

4. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her,

she must not divorce him. 1 Cor.7:13

5. Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife. 1 Cor.7:27

6. Engagement is not bounding! 1 Cor.7:36-38

7. A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry

anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord. 1 Cor.7:39

8. In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she—

and I think that I too have the Spirit of God. 1 Cor.7:40

C. Husbands love your wives.

1. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Eph.5:25

2. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Col.3:19

3. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home;

for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. 1 Cor.14:35

4. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Eph.5:22

5. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body,

of which he is the Savior.  Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to

    their husbands in everything. Eph.5:23-24

6. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies.

He who loves his wife loves himself. Eph.5:28

7. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, Titus 2:3-4

D. The benefits of marriage!

3. Fornicators and adulterers cannot inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor.6:9-10

4. A disciple of Christ may take a believing wife to do evangelistic work together. 1 Cor.9:5

5. To be an elder to rule a local church he must be husband of one wife, a man whose children believe

and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Titus 1:6

6. In order to have the above qualification, a disciple must be married!

E. Conclusion: In answer to the question: Marry the one we love or love the one we married?

1. Nowadays, we all married the one we love!

But in a life long marriage, people can change and become one we can’t even live with!

Committed adultery is the ultimate that change both forever!

2. This is why Jesus said: I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness,

and marries another woman commits adultery.Matt.19:9

3. The Bible says, husbands love your wives. Wives love your husbands. Eph.5:28, Titus 2:3-4.

Please remember the Bible did not say, as long as your husband or wife is lovable to you!

4. Besides, there is this thing called marriage vow!

At wedding ceremony, did you promise, still death do us part?
