Friday Bible Study. November 11, 2016.
Subject: In Matt.7:21-23, why did Jesus say these people are evildoers?
A. Matt.7:21
Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does
the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?
Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
B. 2 Cor.11:4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or
if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you
accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
C. Gal 1:6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of
Christ and are turning to a different gospel--
D. 2Jn 1:9-11
Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever
continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring
this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in
his wicked work.
E. Mk 7:7-9
They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'
You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.
And he said to them:
You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
F. 1Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be
praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
G. John 16:12-14
I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own;
he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
H. 2 Peter 3:16
He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters.
His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people
distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
I. Titus 3:10-11
Warn a denomination person once, and then warn him a second time.
After that, have nothing to do with him.
You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
J. Heb. 10:25-29
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one
another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after
we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation
of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of
Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you
think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as
an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
K. 1 Cor 11:18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions
among you, and to some extent I believe it.
