Friday Bible Study. March 10, 2017.
Subject: One sure way to identify true believers. Able to know the truth in the Bible.
A. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said:
If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:31-32
B. The disciples came to him and asked:
Why do you speak to the people in parables?
He replied: The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given
to you, but not to them. Matt.13:10-11
C. Jesus asked them: Are you still so dull? Matt.15:16
I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth…. John 16:12-13
D. 2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through
our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
E. 2 John 1:10-11, Jude 1:3
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into
your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share,
I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all
entrusted to the saints.
F. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor.2:16
G. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.
Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away
disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped
warning each of you night and day with tears.
Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you
an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:28-32
H. God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Tim.2:4
I. Jesus asked: Who do you say I am?
Simon Peter answered: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus replied: Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man,
but by my Father in heaven.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of
Hades will not overcome it. Matt.16:15-18
K. Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matt.5:17
L. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-- not of the letter but of the Spirit;
for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Cor.3:6
M. Be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect. Matt.5:48
May the Lord bless you and keep you always!
