A. Main scriptures for this study: 1Thes.4:3-8
1. For this is the will of God, (even) your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication. 1Thes.4:3
2. Each one of you know how to acquire himself of his own body in sanctification and honor,
not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God. 1Thes.4:4-5
3. No man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things,
as also we forewarned you and testified. 1Thes.4:6
4. For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification. 1Thes.4:7
5. Therefore he that reject, reject not man, but God, who give his Holy Spirit unto you. 1Thes.4:8
B. Man’s common problem! Romans 7:20-25
1. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. Ro.7:20
2. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. Ro.7:21
3. For in my inner being I delight in God's law. Ro.7:22
Me, the soul, delight in God’s law! I like to do the will of God!
4. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me
into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Ro.7:23
Desire of the body and sin together defeat me, lock up the soul, to do evil!
5. All must know how Satan operates!
Using the desire of the body together with sin lock up the soul to do evil!
6. O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Ro.7:24
7. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God;
but with the flesh the law of sin. Ro.7:25
8. To save our souls we have to believe Jesus is Lord, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for forgiveness of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!
C. This is how sin develops within us! James 1:14-15
1. Each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. James 1:14
2. Then the lust, when it hath conceived, bear sin: and the sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:15
3. Sin in the soul like disease in the body, giving time to develop, it kills!
4. The best time to deal with sin is when it appeared, snip it off immediately!
D. How does anger germinate? Mark 3:1-5
1. Jesus entered into the synagogue. There was a man had his hand withered. Mk.3:1
2. The Jews watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day…! Mk.3:2
3. He said to the man: Stand forth. And he said to them:
Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good or to do harm? To save life, or to kill? But they kept quiet! Mark 3:3-4
4. And when had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts,
he said to the man: Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth. His hand restored.
5. Be ye angry, and sin not: Let not the sun go down while you are still angry! Eph.4:26
Where is the breaking line? When you are angry to the point that you think about cursing!
Or when the sun go down while you are still angry!
E. How does immoral desire germinate?
1. But I say unto you, that whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matt.5:28
2. Men are free to look at and appreciate the beauty of a woman but not lust after her!
3. How much effort a man is to put up to stop his lust?
If thy right eye causes thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee:
for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. Matt.5:29
F. Conclusion: Acquire your own body so it will not do any of these! 1 Cor.6:9-10
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men,
nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
