A. God created marriage! Gen.2:18-25
1. God said: It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Gen.2:18
2. God made a woman and brought her to the man. Gen.2:22
3. Adam said: She is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be called a woman. Gen.2:23
4. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother. Gen.2:24
and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Gen.2:24
5. The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. Gen.2:25
B. Jesus repeated it this way! Matt.19:3-9
1. Pharisees asked: Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason? Matt.19:3
2. Jesus replied: Haven't you read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female.
And said: For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.
And the two will become one flesh? Matt.19:4-5
3. They are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. 19:6
4. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another
woman commits adultery. Matt.19:9
C. Apostle Paul explain it further 1. 1 Cor.7:1-28
1. It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 1Cor.7:1
2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication,
let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 1Cor.7:2
3. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence:
and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 1Cor.7:3
4. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband:
and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 1Cor.7:4
5. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 1Cor.7:8
6. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 1Cor.7:9
7. And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord,
Let not the wife depart from her husband: 1Cor.7:10
8. But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband:
and let not the husband put away his wife. 1Cor.7:11
9. Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife. 1Cor.7:27
1o. But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned.
But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this. 1Cor.7:28
D. Apostle Paul explained it further 2. Eph.5:22-32
1. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Eph.5:22
2. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church:
and he is the savior of the body. Eph.5:23
3. As the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Eph.5:24
4. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Eph.5:25
E. Apostle explain it further 3. 1Thes.4:3-8
1. It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality. 1Thes.4:3
2. Each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God. 1Thes.4:4-5
3. And that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him.
The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 1Thes.4:6
4. 1Thes 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 1Thes.4::7
5. He who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit. 1Thes.4:8
F. Conclusion: Control fleshly lust up to what point?
1. Jesus’ instruction! Matt.5:27-29
2. Apostle Paul put it this way! that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 1Thes.4:6
4. 1Thes 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 1Thes.4:7
