Deceitfulness of sin!
Main scriptures for this study: Heb.3:12-15
1. See to it, brethren, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 2. But exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest anyone of you be hardened by
the deceitfulness of sin. Heb.3:13
3. For we are become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end.
4. While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Heb.3:15
A. In your argument for righteousness sake!
1. 35 years ago, I met a world-wide respected Chinese Bible expert translator!
2. I was privileged to be invited to visit him in his house! He gave me three well written books!
3. On Acts 2:36-38 and Acts 22:16 about human sins forgiven at time of water baptism!
4. He admitted that he had neglected that! Saying the he was sorry all of his life he did not notice that!
5. I said: People around the world respected you! You have moral responsibility go back to tell them!
6. At the time he was about 80. His wife said he has a heart condition!
7. After he heard what I said, he became very emotional! I said: Please stop let us drink tea!
8. On my part at this point it was my human decency to stop!
9. All I needed was a few more simple words to end his life!
10. I have human dignity, instinct and basic decency!
11. He was such an old style American! My Father in heaven knows, I love and respect these people!
12. Thank God, I was not taken by the deceitfulness of sins! The desire to win the argument!
13. I always remember, argument about what says in the Bible is for saving of lives!
B. How and why sin can become deceitful?
1. Take walking across a street for example!
2. Red light is on. But all people keep walking, no one stop for the red light!
3. You follow the crowd, everyone does it anyway! Who care!
4. Gradually this becomes habitual! Thus sin deceitfulness established within you!
5. I often have to hold down people who walked with me!
6. As for me, I let the whole world walk on red light! I wait for the green light!
7. The big problem is, this has becomes an innocence, miner, little and not hurt anyone thing!
8. “This is a not hurt anyone” thing is classic, easy and effective to establish the deceitfulness of sin!
C. Do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together on Sunday worship! Heb.10:25
1. Saturday is the key! Many have lots to do on Saturday!
2. You have to plan so that nothing hinders the assembling of ourselves together on Sunday!
3. One time you failed and missed the assembling!
4. You say within yourself! God is love. God will not take this one time and put me in hell!
5. There will be next time, when it becomes consecutively!
6. Sin’s deceitfulness has firmly established within you!
7. If this is you, your faith in the Lord is in jeopardy!
8. If this is your children, they had become liars!
D. Conclusion: How does the good become death to me! Romans 7:10-13
1. The very commandment which promised life proved to be death to me. Ro.7:10
2. For sin, finding opportunity in the commandment, deceived me and by it killed me. Ro.7:11
3. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good. Ro.7:12
4. Did that which is good, then, bring death to me?
5. By no means! It was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown
to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure. Ro.7:13
For example: Green, yellow and red light are intended to save life if both pedestrian and driver obey!
Driver drive when green is on. Red is for pedestrian to stop walking so car can go freely!
When green light is on, driver is to drive through, but pedestrian continue to walk on their red light!
Thus the car hit and killed the pedestrian! These red, yellow and green lights intended to save life kills!
It works the same as words in the Bible, when obey we all blessed. When disobey we all suffer!
