Subject: Not in church of Christ not saved!
A. I know many think they do not have to be in church to be saved!
1. 43 years ago, In N.Y.C. I met a few born again Christians!
2. Their theory are these two:
a. You do not have to be a Christian to go to church!
b. You do not have to go to church to be a Christian!
3. These people must have many scriptures to form their theory!
B. I have these scriptures to form my theory!
1. If you are not in worship as a church on Sunday you are not saved!
Saved people meet together for worship is the church! 1 Cor.11:18
In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
2. Saved people form together as one body of Christ. Ro.12:4-5
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same
function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
3. Church is the body of Christ! 1Cor.12:27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 1Cor.12:12
As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 1Cor.12”20
4. The saved are all members of one body. Eph.4:25
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are members of one body. Eph.4:25
5. The body of Christ is the church! Eph.1:22-23
C. The consequences of forsaking church worship:
1. Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.
And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47
2. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one
another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb.10:25
3. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Heb.10:26-27
4. One who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses. Heb.10:28
5. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as
an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? Heb.10:29
D. Church is a place for the saved to grow in the truth!
1. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people
for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and
become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Eph.4:11-13
2. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by
every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.Eph.4:14
3. Elders in the church to keep watch! Ac 20:28
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.
Be shepherds of the church of Christ, which he bought with his own blood.
E. Jesus promised, the saved will know the truth! John 8:31-32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said: If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
