A. Main scriptures for this study: 1 John 5:3-5
1. This is love for God: To obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome. 1Jn.5:3
2. For everyone born of God overcomes the world.
This is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith. 1Jn.5:4
3. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes Jesus is the Son of God. 1Jn.5:5
B. In reality, Billy graham, Joel Osteen are very powerful preachers.
1. Billy with his powerful faith preached to 215 million people in his life time.
2. Joel Osteen with his powerful faith has 7 million listen to his preaching weekly!
3. Their yearly contribution is in the 100s or millions! Both are not in the church of Christ!
4. Their faith is not according to the Bible!
5. In the Bible view point believe Jesus not in church of Christ is done evil!
6. Jesus said these: Matt.7:22-23
On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord did we not preach in thy name?
Did we not cast out demons in thy name?
Did we not done many mighty works in thy name? Matt.7:22
Then I will say this to them plainly:
Your evildoers depart from me, I never knew you! Matt.7:23
7. The Apostle of Love, John said these: 2Jn.1:9-11
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
Anyone who welcomes him shares in his evil work. 2Jn.1:10-11
C. Genuine faith is powerful!
1. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous,
God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks. Heb.11:4
2. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;
by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Heb,11:7
3. By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only son. Heb.11:17
4. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Heb.11:24-25
Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: …Heb.11:26
5. By faith they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword:
they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented. Heb.11:37
6. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise. Heb.11:39
7. By faith all the Apostles died a horrible death except John being exiled for life!
E. Does your faith powerful enough for you to do these?
1. Genuine faith is powerful enough to overcome the world!
2. But if you are not able not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together on Sunday?
It is 1000 times better that you quit immediately! Heb.10:25-29
Forsake assembling of ourselves together is a trodden Jesus under foot, a despise of the Holy Spirit, a making the blood of Christ an unholy thing….
One who done such is to die without mercy! (To such God is a consuming fire!)
3. Make every effort to exercise to increase the measure of these virtues.
Courage, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, love for brothers, love for all! 2Pe.1:5-8
4. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake:… 1Peter 2:13
5. Flee also youthful lusts, pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2Tim.2:22
6. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matt.5:44
7. Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matt.5:48
