Preface:
1. We all love life and like to see good days!
2. This is the most common indicated reason for coming to America!
A. This is God’s way in the Bible! 1 Peter 3:8-18
1. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren,
be pitiful, be courteous. 1 Peter 3:8
Can human society be all of one mind? Especially not among Chinese people!
Chinese are the most capable experts in individualism! Everything is me, myself and I!
Unless human become this--> all things I can do in him empowering me! Phil.4:13
How about having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be merciful, be courteous?
2. Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing;
knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9
There is this Chinese sayingà not rendering evil for evil is not a gentleman!
Who is able to do these!? Unless one has been called to inherit a blessing!
3. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil,
and his lips that they speak no guile. 1 Peter 3:10
There was this American sayingà Honesty is best policy!
4. Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 1 Peter 3:11
5. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:
but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 1 Peter 3:12
6. We all need these encouragements! 1 Peter 3:13-14
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror,
neither be troubled.
7. This is what it takes! 1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that
ask you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
8. Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed
that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 1 Peter 3:16
9. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 1Peter 3:17
10. Jesus is our example! 1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.
B. All human has this problem! Ro.7:15-24
1. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Ro.7:15
2. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. Ro.7:16
3. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. Ro.7:17
4. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.
For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Ro.7:18
5. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do --
this I keep on doing. Ro.7:19
6. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it,
but it is sin living in me that does it. Ro.7:20
7. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Ro.7:24
8. Thanks be to God-- through Jesus Christ our Lord! Ro.7:25
C. Conclusion: This love life message is for the elect and travelers in Christ! 1 Peter 1:1-2
