Contradictory?

Friday Bible Study.  November 9, 2018.

Why seems contradictory?

A. Obey or not obey!

1. Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! Ac.5:29

2. Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority. 1 Peter 2:13

 B. By work or not by work!

1. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.  Eph.2:8-10

2. Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. James 2:17

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? James 2:21

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James 2:26

 C. Under the law or not under the law!

1. But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal.5:18

2. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

3. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt.5:18

4. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:

but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matt.5:19

D. Save according to Romans 10:9 or save according to Mark 16:16!

1. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shalt be saved. Ro.10:9

Or save by this? Mark 16:16

2. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. Mark 16:16

E. How about the Sabbath day lasting covenant?

1. Ex.31:15-16

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD.

Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath,

celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant.

2. Num.15:32-36

While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.

Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.

Then the LORD said to Moses:

The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp. So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death,

    as the LORD commanded Moses.
