Piety generated activity in God¡¯s judgment! 2

Piety generated activity in God’s judgment! 2

A. Piety in God’s judgment.

1. The scripture as recorded in the Bible!

In God's judgment piety that is pure and undefiled is to visit the orphans and widows

in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27

2. Piety that is pure and undefiled cannot be seen with physical eyes!

3. The act of going to visit while they are in trouble is a display of invisible piety!

B. Faith by itself is invisible!

1. For by grace have you been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, the gift of God;

not of works, that no man should glory. Eph.2:8-9

2. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,

which God afore prepared that we should walk in them. Eph.2:10

3. Through good works in daily living we see faith that saves souls!

C. James chapter two has more detail!

1. What does it profit, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but have no works?

Can that faith save him? James 2:14

2. Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. James 2:17

3. Was not Abraham our father justified by works,

in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? James 2:21

4. You see that faith wrought with works, and by works was faith made perfect. James 2:22

This perfect is not without defect perfect!

It is faith as a product had been completed!

5. The scripture was fulfilled which said: Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto

him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God. James 2:23

6. You see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. James 2:24

7. Abraham’s faith was perfected at the time of his offering Isaac!

8. For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James 2:26

D. Piety generated activity which resulted in death of the worshiper!

1. Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put

incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.Lev.10:1

2. There went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.Lev.10:2

3. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spoke, saying, I will be sanctified in them

that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified.  Aaron held his peace. Lev.10:3

4. These two priests offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not!

Their piety generated activity show that they did not do what God commanded them!

5. Moses stated the reason why God sent fire to devour them!

God said: I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me. Before all the people I will be glorified.

This means piety generated activity has to show absolute obedience!

6. In public worship to God offering things not commanded by God is clearly a show of disrespect!

7. Instant death is the penalty!  May all human on earth pay attention!

E. God is Spirit! John 4:24

1. God is invisible!

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-- his eternal power and divine nature—

have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,

so that men are without excuse. Ro.1:20

2. They that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth!

3. Worship in spirit and truth cannot be seen!

4. Through the visible thing worshipers offer to God we can see!

5. Offer sacrifice of praises to God!  God commanded to use fruits of the lips!  Heb.13:15

6. The use of musical instruments in public worship to God is an insult to God’s dignity!

May the Lord bless you and keep you always!  Preach this December 16, 2018.
