A. Man has this problem!
1. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Ro.7:15
2. If I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. Ro.7:16
3. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. Ro.7:17
4. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh.
For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Ro.7:18
5. For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practice. Ro.7:19
6. But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. Ro.7:20
B. Why man has this problem? Gal.5:16-25
1. This I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Gal.5:16
2. For the flesh lust against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Gal.5:17
3. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal.5:18
4. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders,
drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past,
that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal.5:19-21
C. Here is the remedy!
1. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law. Gal.5:22-23
2. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Gal.5:24
3. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body,
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal.2:20
4. And you has he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Eph.2:1
5. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. Eph.2:2
6. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires
of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Eph.2:3
7. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins,
has quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved. Eph.2:4-5
8. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph.2:6
9. The Lord added the saved into the church of Christ! Acts 2:47
D. There is no condemnation to them that are in Christ! Ro.8:1
1. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. Ro.8:2
2. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the
likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Ro.8:3
3. that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Ro.8:4
4. For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh.
But they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Ro.8:5
5. For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: Ro.8:6
6. because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can it be: and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Ro.8:7-8
7. But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you.
But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Ro.8:9
8. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. 8:10
9. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from
the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. Ro.8:11
E. This is how you can save yourselves! Acts 2:40-42
1. With many other words did he testify and exhort, saying: Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
2. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:
and the same day there were added unto the church of Christ about three thousand souls. Ac.2:41
3. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread,
and in prayers. Ac.2:42
