A. Follow Jesus, do not follow gods, do not obey law!
1. Who issued this --> Obey law or you die!
Peter answered: We must obey God rather than men! Ac.5:29
(To governing authorities this means you are trying to overthrow government!)
2. God said:
a. You shall have no other gods before me. Deu.5:7
b. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you.
For the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you.
And he will destroy you from the face of the land. Deu.6:14-15
3. Obey law! What law? Do you know? Read the books of Romans Galatians and Hebrew!
4. Follow Jesus, do not follow gods, do not obey law!
Obey God rather than men?
5. To no God believing authorities this means do not obey government law!
6. This means you are trying to overthrow their government!
B. At a time when Roman governors were corrupted!
1. Apostle Peter wrote:
Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme. 1Peter 2:13
2. Apostle Paul wrote: Ro.13:1-6
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God. Ro.13:1
Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted,
and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Ro.13:2
For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong.
Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority?
Then do what is right and he will commend you. Ro.13:3
For he is God's servant to do you good.
But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing.
He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Ro.13:4
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities,
not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. Ro.13:5
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants,
who give their full time to governing. Ro.13:6
3. Wish to live a peaceful and quiet life? Do this! 2Tim.2:1-3
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--
For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This is good, and pleases God our Savior.
C. Be blessed, learn this, and learn it well!
1. What does obey God rather than men mean?
2. Who issued the order that said obey law or you die?
3. Obey what law?
4. Corrupted Roman governors knew!
Jews religious leaders issued that!
5. They were about Jews religious law! Not Roman Empire Governing law!
6. Do not know which chapter and verse teach the above?
Go to a church of Christ close to where you are!
7. Or if you like. Welcome to come here to ask!
D. Here are a few scriptures to help:
1. Christ is the end of the law! Ro.10:4
2. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Ro.3:28
3. Was not Abraham our father justified by works,
in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? James 2:21
4. You see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. James 2:24
5. But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ. Eph.2:13
(Believe and be baptized into Christ!) Gal.3:27, Mk.16:16, Ac.2:38
6. For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition, having abolished
in the flesh the enmity, the law of commandments in ordinances;
that he might create in himself of the two one new man, making peace. Eph.2:14-15
7. And might reconcile them both in one body unto God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh. Eph.2:16-17
May the Lord bless you and keep you always! Written May 17, 2019.
