A. Main scriptures for this study: 2Peter 1:20-21
1. Above all, you must know that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.1:20
2. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man,
but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2Pet.1:21
3. Watch out for many carried along by spirit of the devil!
The easy way to detect is ask: Is the name of your church in the Bible?
Any answer not with the word “No” is from the devil! Jesus said it! Matt.5:37
4. Just watch what they do in their Sunday worship and match what Bible says!
5. See if they can link up scriptures to show Acts 2:1 is about the beginning of the church of Christ!
On the day of Pentecost they all came together in one place! Ac.2:1
6. God granted us with wisdom and knowledge to know what Bible says and what others do!
B. Prerequisites for knowing the truth in the Bible! Jn.8:31-32
1. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said: If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.Jn.8:31
2. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Jn.8:32
3. Believed him and hold to what Bible says --> Real disciples --> will know the truth --> free from sins!
4. Besides, believe have to be genuine!
C. Jesus promised to his disciples! Jn.16:12-13
1. I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. Jn.16:12
2. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own;
he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. Jn.16:13
3. Apostle Peter confirmed this! 2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has granted us all things pertaining to godliness and life!
D. ***About eternal life is the gift of God! Ro.6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1. Churches with name not in the Bible emphasize “eternal life is free gift”!
2. They link to these scriptures:
a. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God. Jn.1:12
b. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jn.3:16
c. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved. Ro.10:9
d. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Ro.10:10
e. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Eph.2:8-9
f. For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Ro.10:13
E. In the church of Christ we emphasize eternal life is the gift of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!
1. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2. We link up with these scriptures:
a. Sinners are baptized into Christ Jesus! Gal.3:27
b. It is the Lord added the saved into the church of Christ! Ac.2:47
c. Being born again of the water and the Holy Spirit. Jn.3:5, Ac.2:38
d. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. 1Pet.2:2
F. We insist all saved people must be faithful members of the church of Christ! Col.3:1-3
1. Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Col.3:1
2. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Col.3:2
3. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Col.3:3
4. Forsake worship to God on Sunday is an insult to Christ and the soul will die without mercy! Heb.10:24-31
5. To have eternal life in heaven with God one must die as a member of the church of Christ!
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on."
"Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." Rev.14:13
