This was how Saul believes Jesus get eternal life!
A. Saul's back ground:
1. He was a Jew born as a Roman citizen. Ac. 22:3, 22:25-29
2. He was a strictly trained Pharisee. Ac.22:3
3. He was a devout man according to the law. Ac.22:3
4. He persecuted Jesus' believers to their death. Ac.22:4
B. Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus!
1. He was authorized to persecute believers in Damascus! Ac.22:5
2. When he drew near Damascus a great light shined round about him. Ac.22:6
3. He fell to the ground, heard a voice: Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me? Ac.22:7
4. He answered: Who are you, Lord? Ac.22:8
The voice said: I am Jesus whom you persecute! Ac.22:8
5. People with me saw the light but not heard the voice! Ac.22:9
C. Saul asked: What shall I do, Lord? Ac.22:10
1. The Lord said to me: Get up go into Damascus. There you shall be told what to do! Ac.22:10
2. I was blinded because of the light! I was led by hand into Damascus! Ac.22:11
D. Jesus sent Ananias to help Saul! Ac.22:12
1. Ananias was a devout man according to the law. Ac.22:12
2. He was a well reported disciple of Christ! Ac.9:10
*** Very important points to learn here!
a. Saul and Ananias both devout men according to the law!
b. Ananias was a converted devout disciple of Christ!
c. Saul was a zealous Jesus persecutor! This difference is heaven and hell!
d. From Ananias, Saul learned the truth about the law and wrote Gal.3:22-25!
e. The law was to lead people to Christ!
f. Once people are in Christ the law ended! Ro.10:4
g. With all his education and great zealous for God, Saul was dead wrong about the law!
h. As we can see without this miracle may not be able to convert Saul!
3. Here we also see Jesus send the same class of people to help Saul!
In the meantime Ananias can help Saul to know the law correctly!
E. Ananias assignments:
1. Ananias said to Saul:
The Lord Jesus sent me to help you to see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit! Ac.9:17
2. Ananias went to the house lay his hands on him and said:
Brother Saul receives your sight! Ac.22:13
3. And in that very hour he could see again! Ac.22:13
4. Saul got up and was baptized! Ac.9:18
We all know this was to wash away his sins so Saul can be filled with the Holy Spirit! Ac.22:16
5. Filled with the Holy Spirit was for disciple of Christ! Ac.2:1-4
6. Disciples of Christ were people had been baptized for forgiveness of sins!
F. Ananias delivered God's assignments for Saul! Ac.22:14-15
1. Ananias said to Saul: God has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One.
And to hear a voice from his mouth. Ac.22:14
2. For you shall be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard! Ac.22:14
3. And now what are you waiting for?
Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord! Ac.22:16
4. Filled with the Holy Spirit was for them to preach the truth correctly!
G. Conclusion: This was how Saul believes Jesus get eternal life!
1. He warned all people on earth:
Anyone, even if an angel from God teach differently will go to hell! Gal.1:8
2. The Lord added the saved Saul into the church. Ac.2:47
3. The name of this church is church of Christ! Ro.16:16, Gal.1:22, Ac.20:28
