The gift of the eternal life key chain. Jn.8:31-32
A. Chains for preaching God’s word in a wicked generation!
1. For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you.
It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain. Ac.28:20
2. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me
so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains.
Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Eph.6:19-20
3. It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart. For whether I am in chains
or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. Phil.1:7
4. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains
for Christ. Phil.1:13
5. Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God
more courageously and fearlessly. Phil.1:14
6. We are blessed! We are protected to preach God’s word!
Please be fearlessly to speak God’s word to people around you!
7. Watch out for sick people who do not believe Jesus is the Christ!
B. Everlasting chains to bound people in hell!
1. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—
these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. Jude 1:6
2. I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and
holding in his hand a great chain. Rev.20:1
3. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years. Rev.20:2
4. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations
anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. Rev.20:3
5. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. Rev.20:6
a. The second death has no power over them.
b. They will be priests of God and of Christ.
c. They will reign with Christ for a 1000 years. Rev.20:6
C. The gift of the eternal life key chain. Jn.8:31-32
1. Scriptures as recorded: To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said:
If you abide in my word, you are my true disciples. Jn.8:31
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Jn.8:32
2. As we can see there are 5 keys!
a. Believe Jesus. b. Abide in his word. c. True disciple. d. Know the truth. e. Free from sin.
3. Sequence of keys in this chain:
Believed Jesus --> abide in his teaching --> true disciples --> know the truth --> you are free from sins!
D. Know each key:
1. Believe Jesus is Lord and Christ. Ac.2:36-38, Jn.8:24
***Believe Jesus is a collective term which also includes repent, be baptized for forgiveness of sin and
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! Ac.2:36-38, Ac.19:4-5
2. Abide in his word!
All Jesus’ word is in the New Testament Bible!
Follow the example of Paul as he followed the example of Christ! 1Cor.11:1
Forsake not to worship in church of Christ! Heb.10:25-31
3. True disciples! Jesus’ true disciples serve God in church of Christ as holy and royal priests. 1Pet.2:5,9.
4. Know the truth in the New Testament Bible.
a. Instant test: Do you know what is wrong in Jn.8:31?
b. You must know! Otherwise, you are not yet free from sins!
c. Do you know when is this 1000 years?
d. Do you know what is this first resurrection?
e. How and when do the saved reign with Christ?
f. One who does not know these truth but think he believes Jesus is a liar!
Conclusion: All the people here are blessed! We know all these truth!
