Peace to you! (Greek text dictionary number 1515)
A. Preface: 1. Tranquilize state of the soul and content body life on earth is yours!
2. It is in our way of saying: From now on, relax! I have got it done!
3. It is just perfect! From now on nothing to worry!
B. Scriptures as recorded: John 20:19-27
1. On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together,
with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said: Peace to you! Jn.20:19
2. After he said this, he showed them his hands and side.
The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Jn.20:20
3. Again Jesus said: Peace to you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. Jn.20:21
4. And with that he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. Jn.20:22
5. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Jn.20:23
6. Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. Jn.20:24
7. So the other disciples told him: We have seen the Lord!
But he said to them: Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger
where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it. Jn.20:25
8. A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them.
Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said: Peace be with you! Jn.20:26
9. Then he said to Thomas: Put your finger here; see my hands.
Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. Jn.20:27
C. Yes, peace to you! Who are the “you”?
1. Yes, who do not want tranquilize state of the soul and content body life on earth?
2. But who got it done for this? Yes, Jesus did it for his disciples!
3. To get this peace you must become his disciple! Jn.8:31-32
To the Jews who having believed him, Jesus said: If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
D. How can we get this done?!
1. After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.
He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. Ac.1:3
2. Yes, establish the kingdom of God!
E. This is the how!
1. Evangelize: Again Jesus said: Peace to you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. Jn.20:21
2. Word of Christ: And with that he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. Jn.20:22
3. Forgiveness of sins:
If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Jn.20:23
F. God can even make dull headed people do it! Matt.16:15
1. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Jn.14:26
2. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own.
He will speak only what he hears. He will tell you what is yet to come. Jn.16:13
3. The Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you,
and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city. Ac.18:9-10
4. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised
through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1Pet.4:11
5. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the
Holy Spirit. 2Peter 1:20-21
6. When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend
yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say. Lk.12:11-12
7. This is the end result! Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. Lk.2:14
G. But here is the end --> 1. Will you do it?! I am doing it and have been for 60 years!
2. Are you willing to become true disciple? Yes, now it is up to you!
3. Save yourself from this corrupted generation! Ac.2:40
4. Repent and be baptized every one of you for the forgiveness of your sins… Ac.2:38
5. On that day 3000 accepted his word and got baptized! Are you willing to be one like these 3000? Ac.2:41
