Peace to you! (2) (Greek text dictionary number 1515)
A. Preface:
1. Yes, after Jesus resurrected! He showed himself to his disciples and said: Peace to you!
2. It is perfect! Everything is set! From now on nothing to worry! Peace to you!
B. Scriptures as recorded: John 20:19-23
1. On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together,
with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said: Peace to you! Jn.20:19
2. After he said this, he showed them his hands and side.
The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Jn.20:20
3. Again Jesus said: Peace to you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. Jn.20:21
4. And with that he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. Jn.20:22
5. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Jn.20:23
C. By the space of 40 days Jesus spoke to them about the kingdom of God! Ac.1:3
1. The kingdom of God is not of this world!
If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. … Jn.18:36
2. To the Pharisees Jesus said: the kingdom of God is inside you! Lk.17:20-21
3. The kingdom of God is about righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit! Ro.14:17
4. The kingdom of God is the church of Christ. Eph.2:19
5. The kingdom of God is about the saving of souls by faith in Jesus Christ! Heb.10:39
6. Each human has spirit and soul and body! 1Thes.5:23
7. It is the soul who sins is the one who will die! Eze.18:20
8. At dead of the body, spirit returns to God who gave it! Ecc.12:7
At dead of the body, body returns to dust where it belongs! Ecc.12:7
9. The kingdom of God is about saving of the soul from going to hell forever! Lk.16:23, Rev.20:12-14
D. The kingdom of God is for people to enter to have eternal life! Jn.3:1-5
1. It is to be born of water and the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God! Jn.3:5
2. Apostle Peter explained it this way:
Believe Jesus is Lord and Christ, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of
sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! Ac.2:36-38
3. Each is to save himself by accepting this message and be baptized into the kingdom of God!
4. The kingdom of God is the church of Christ! Eph.2:19
5. The church of Christ is the body of Christ. Eph.1:22-23
E. Salvation for the soul is in Christ Jesus! Ro.3:24, 6:23
1. God is faithful and righteous! 1Jn.1:9
2. Souls died in sins receive death in hell as punishment!
3. But God commended his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Ro.5:8
4. For God so love the world he gave his only son whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life!
F. While the resurrected Jesus still on earth he did these:
1. Showed himself to his disciples and said: Peace to you!
2. He breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit!
So that they will know the truth and able to preach that truth! 1Pet.4:11, Jn.17:17
The truth can save souls! James 1:21
3. He said: As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. Jn.20:21
If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Jn.20:23.
4. Matthew recorded it this way: Matt.28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Matt.28:18
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matt.28:19-20
F. Conclusion: Imagine --> The resurrected Jesus is King of America!
1. All people in America are baptized members in church of Christ!
2. All people in America worship God every Sunday day in church of Christ!
3. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. Lk.2:14
Is a reality for all of us! Yes, Jesus said: Peace to you! Are you ready?
