Subject: How can they preach unless they are sent? Ro. 10:15

 

What does 1 Cor.1:17 mean?

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel-- not with words of human wisdom,

lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

This verse has to study in the context of chapter 1 to chapter 3! Otherwise it will be misunderstoo!

We must know, water baptism is a part of the gospel of Christ. Acts 8:35-38

Apostle Paul baptized quite a few people!  Such as the Philippian jailer and his family! Acts 16.

Paul also asked that the 12 baptized people in Ephesus be baptized again in the name of Jesus. Acts 19:6.

I pray that no one will use this verse to preach a salvation before or without water baptism!

for it will contradict with Paul's own salvation testmony! Acts 22:12-16.

And contradict what Jesus said in Mark 16:15-16!

salvation before or without water baptism also contradict what Peter preach in Acts 2:36-38!

As Paul wrote Galatians chapter one and verse 8--> anyone, including angel from God if he

preach a different gospel will be eternally condemned!

So please be very careful!

 

What does 2 Cor.1:16 mean?

2 Cor 1:16 I planned to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia,

and then to have you send me on my way to Judea.

Here he meant to have the church in Corinth to support his trip to Judea! 

How did Jesus send his disciples to preach? Matt.10:5-15

1. Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 10:5

   Specified where not to go.

2. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 10:6

   Specified where to go.

3. As you go, preach this message: The kingdom of heaven is near.

   Specified what message to preach.

4. The means of support: Matt.10:8

   Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive

   out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

   (Equipped with power to do these, who need to bring anything!)

5. What not to bring with them? Matt.10:9-10

   Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag

   for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is

   worth his keep.

6. Where to stay on the mission field? Matt.10:11

   Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there

   and stay at his house until you leave.

   According to my study, worthy person means people who are able to provide

   room, board, clothing and money to spend while preaching there!

7. What to give in return for all these hospitalities? Matt.10:12-13

   As you enter the home, give it your greeting. 10:12

   What is greeting mean?  Matt.10:13

   If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let

   your peace return to you.

8. What happen if worthy but not willing to support mission work? 10:14-15

   If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust

   off your feet when you leave that home or town. I tell you the truth, it

   will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than

   for that town.

9. Caution to all missionaries: John 7:16

   Jesus said: My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me.

   Even Jesus he had to preach what comes from God!

   When you preach, please always remember 1 Peter 4:11!

   Preach only what is recorded in the Bible--> God’s word!

10. How to send after the church was established?

   Acts 13:3-4--> So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their 

   hands on them and sent them off. The two of them, sent on their way by

   the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.

  Phil.4:18 I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied,

   now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a

   fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
