The power to change life is the word of God in the New Testament Bible!
To change life of the flesh one must first change life of the soul!
Without first change life of the soul all is vain!
A. Example one! Ro.7:18-20
1. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing:
for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good not. Ro.7:18
2. For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practice. Ro.7:19
3. But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. Ro.7:20
*** In my flesh dwells no good thing! This no good thing is sin!
4. Apostle Peter said: Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims,
to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul. 1Pet.2:11
B. Remedy: Ac.2:36-38
1. Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly,
that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified. Ac.2:36
2. Now when they heard, they were cut in their heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles:
Brethren, what shall we do? Ac.2:37
3. Peter replied: Each of you repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins!
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! Ac.2:38
4. So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: For if ye live after the flesh,
you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. Ro.8:12-13
5. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
*** Live life of the flesh by the Spirit of God not by lust of the flesh!
6. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.Ro.6:12
7. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God,
as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Ro.6:13
C. The saved were added into the church of Christ for a reason! Ac.2:47
1. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors
and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until
we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the
whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Eph.4:11-13
2. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there
by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Eph.4:14
3. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.4:15
4. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up
in love, as each part does its work. Eph.4:16
D. Example: Ac.16:30-33
1. He then brought them out and asked: Sirs, what must I do to be saved? Ac.16:30
2. They replied: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-- you and your household. Ac.16:31
3. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. Ac.16:32
4. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds;
then immediately he and all his family were baptized. Ac.16:33
5. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. Ac.19:18
6. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly.
When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. Ac.19:19
7. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. Ac.19:20
E. Conclusion:
1. It is the word that saves souls! James 1:21
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. James 1:22
2. Say believe Jesus but not doers of the word become children of Satan! Jn.8:31-44
3. It is by feeding with the word the soul may grow in salvation! 1Pet.2:2
4. It is by obeying the word you can keep your soul purify! 1Pet.1:22
5. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
by the word of God, which lives and abides forever. 1Pet.1:23
6. Knowledge of the word granted only to people in church of Christ! (Test if they know what’s wrong in Jn.8:31)
