Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man,
but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2Pet.1:20-21
A. As it was written! 1Tim.1:3
Timothy to stay in Ephesus! 1Tim.1:3
1. To command people to teach no other doctrine.
***This other doctrine is teaching different from Bible truth which can save souls!
2. One who teaches different from the one Paul delivered to the Galatians is to be condemned! Gal.1:9
3. Anyone listen to them will go to hell with them! 2Jn.1:10-11
B. Paul also wrote these! Gal.1:10-12
1. For am I now seeking the favor of men or of God? Gal.1:10
2. Or am I striving to please men? Gal.1:10
3. If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ. Gal.1:10
4. For I make known to you, brethren, as touching the gospel which was preached by me,
that it is not after man. Gal.1:11
5. For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but through revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal.1:12
C. Stop gnostics, seek the original! 1Tim.1:4
Neither gives heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questionings,
rather than godly edifying which is in faith: So do.
1. Fables and endless gnostics tend to diminish faith in the Lord and knowledge of words of the Bible!
2. Church people have to stop fables and endless gnostics! 1Tim.1:4
3. Because these things generate questionings to their faith and Bible truth!
4. Church people teach what increase faith in the Lord!
5. Church people teach what increase knowledge of the truth in the Bible!
D. To Timothy Paul also wrote these! 2Tim.2:22-26
1. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace,
along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2Tim.2:22
***Together with these people tend to increase knowledge of the truth and faith in the Lord!
2. Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments,
because you know they produce quarrels. 2Tim.2:23
3. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel;
instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 2Tim.2:24
4. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading
them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the
devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. 2Tim.2:25-26
D. Apostle Peter wrote these! 2Peter 1:5-12
1. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge. 2Pet.1:5
2. And to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness. 2Pet.1:6
3. And to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 2Pet.1:7
4. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and
unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pet.1:8
5. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind,
and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. 2Pet.1:9
6. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure.
For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2Pet.1:10-11
7. So I will always remind you of these things,
even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 2Pet.1:12
*** the word translated as virtue means excellence and powerful in mind and body --> courage!
It is better to translate this word as courage! For virtue is a collective term!
8. Eternally in real life to be the first generation of Jesus believer among clans courage is vital!
Dare to be different and dare to be alone require much courage and great determination!
This why this word was used here!
Especially in their generation! Be Jesus believer can be persecuted severely!
E. Conclusion:
It takes excellence and power in body and soul to become a Jesus believer even nowadays in America!
Yes, only excellence and power in body and soul people dare to believe Jesus in church of Christ!
