Someone preached on this subject: You are the righteousness of God.
Main Scripture: 2Cor.5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
A. Points he emphasized: Think!
1. You are the righteousness of God will you smoke cigarette?
No! You will never smoke cigarette again if you ever did!
2. You are the righteousness of God will you commit fornication?
No! You will never commit fornication again if you ever did!
3. You are the righteousness of God will you say cursing words?
No! You will say edifying words! Cursing will never come out of your mouth again!
4. Knowing you are the righteousness of God you will work hard with your own hands!
You will not only have enough for yourself you will also have left over to share with others!
B. He elaborates with these following scriptures:
1. Heb.10:16-18
a. This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. Heb.10:16
b. Then he adds: Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. Heb.16:17
c. Where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. Heb.16:18
*** I would continue to the next 2 verses! Heb.10:19-20
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body (church of Christ!)
Then I will go on to Heb.10:25-27
a. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb.10:25
b. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins
is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
2. John 16:8-11
a. And he, when he is come, (the he is Holy Spirit)
will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Jn.16:8
b. of sin, because they believe not on me; Jn.16:9 (This one sin!)
c. of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more; Jn.16:10 (Make sure you saved!)
d. of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged. Jn.16:11 (Judge Satan not us!)
***Start from Jn.14:1 Jesus was talking to his saved disciples!
Continue the thought in item B. Heb.10:19-20 we know these words were for people in church of Christ!
As long as you live your life end as a member of the church of Christ you will not be judged!
Others will be judged according to what they had done! Jn.12:47-48 Rev.20:12-14
3. Acts 10: 1-48 he picked these points:
a. Cornelius was an Italian centurion. Ac.10:1
b. He and all his family were devout and God-fearing;
he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. Ac.10:2
c. He sent for Peter to preach to him! Ac.10:33
*** I thought he was going for 10:34-35!
Then Peter began to speak: I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but in every
nation he that fears him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to him. Ac.10:34-35
(Because his subject was: You are the righteousness of God!)
d. He pick: While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word. Ac.10:44
*** Emphasizes on “the Holy Spirit fell on all of them”!
4. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ro.10:13
*** The book of Romans was defending the decision made in Acts 15:1-28!
As soon as you read on to 10:14 you will know you can’t stop at 10:13!
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard….
His preaching ended with Joel Osteen said the closing prayer: Lord please save me! You are all saved!
C. His preaching is miss-leading! But who can know? He was a great speaker!
Yes, he is Joel Osteen’s guest speaker in their 16000 seat auditorium! Written January 1, 2021.
