The term church!
A. What does it mean by itself?
1. A group of people meet in a public place for any event! 1577
2. A group of any people from any community meet in a public place is a community church!
3. Acts 2:1 says: On Sunday they were all together in one place!
They were disciples of Christ! They all believed Jesus is the Christ! Matt.16:16, Jn.8:24
This is the church of Christ! Gal.1:22, Ro.16:16
*** Not any people from any community, not community church!
B. A big difference when church connected with "of Christ"!
1. This denotes ownership! This means whose will this church abides!
2. This denotes what kinds of people are gathering!
3. It is CHRISTIANS meet for worship to God on Sunday! Ac.11:26
4. Church of Christ is a gathering of pure heart people to worship God follow righteousness, faith, love and peace!
C. The church liken to a married woman! Ro.7:1-4, Eph.5:31-32
1. Before a woman is attached or married to a man she is free to think whose wife she wants!
2. Once a woman is married she is crowned with Mrs. the man’s name!
*** Mrs. “the man’s name” is in small letter!
*** But refer to as Mrs. John Doe. Mrs. John Doe is in capital letter!
3. As long as the husband lives she is bound by law to the husband! Ro.7:1-4
4. When Mrs. John Doe changed to be Mrs. John Dog she declares the dead of John Doe, her husband!
5. A church wears a name that is not church of Christ she declares the dead of Christ!
D. English culture deadens hearts from understanding Bible truth! Jn.12:39-40
1. A married woman is crowned with a term Mrs. the husband’s name!
Such as Mr. John Doe and his wife Mrs. John Doe!
2. Mrs. John Doe is in capital letter! They don’t write as mrs. john doe!
3. This made some English speaking people argue the word church is in small letter!
Therefore, it is not a proper name! Therefore, church name does not have to be church of Christ!
4. 1500 years ago English culture people changed the name church of Christ into other name!
They declared death of Christ, the husband! No wonder they don’t care what Bible says!
5. Why not argue about names that are not church of Christ?
How about church done many things not in the Bible! Why hold on to name that is not in the Bible!
E. Church of Christ lives as two in one or three in one!
1. Do you care about Jesus’ prayer?! Jn.17:20-21
Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word;
that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.
May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
2. Church of Christ does not exist as church by itself! It always as church of Christ!
3. As a man’s body and his head do not live separately! They always live together as one!
4. Now you know why the word church is in small letter? If not, then think about item 5 in D!
5. When all non-church of Christ changed into church of Christ the matter is forever settled!
F. Now you know why these teachings!
1. Jesus said: Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name,
and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
Then I will tell them plainly: I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! Matt.7:22-23
*** What evil did they do? Change church name declared dead of Christ, the husband!
2. Apostle John wrote: If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into
your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work. 2Jn.1:10-11
3. Apostle Paul wrote: Warn a denomination person once, and then warn him a second time.
After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is sick head
thinking up-side-down and sinful; he is self-condemned. Titus 3:10-11
G. Conclusion: 1. The way to the Father is through the church of Christ! Heb.10:19-20
Having therefore, brethren boldness to enter into the most holy place by the blood of Jesus.
By a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, his body.
*** His body is body of Christ. Body of Christ is church of Christ!
2. Church of Christ is a gathering of pure heart people to worship God follow righteousness, faith, love and peace!
