Know the voice of the Lord is essential for salvation of the soul!

A. Theme scriptures:  John 10:4-5 and 10:27-28

1. When he had put forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: For they know his voice.

    And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: For they know not the voice of strangers. Jn.10-4-5

2. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life;

    and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. Jn.10:27-28

1. What does the “voice” mean?

2. What does “know his voice” mean?

3. “My sheep hear my voice” what does it mean?

4. What does it mean to be in the hand of the Lord?

5. Therefore we know the saved people are in __________________________!

6. Why church membership is essential for salvation of the soul?

7. How do we know God lays up sound wisdom for people in church of Christ? Pro.2:7

    Church of Christ is about righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Ro.14:17

1. The truth is given to the saved! Matt.13:10-11

    The disciples came, and said to him: Why do you speak to them in parables?

    Jesus replied: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but not to them!

2. Truly saved people will know the truth! Jn.8:31-32

    Jesus said to the Jews that had believed him: If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.

    Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Jn.8:31-32

Question 1: Are true disciple of Christ saved people?

3. A stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: For they know not the voice of strangers. Jn.10:5

Question 1: What does “stranger” mean?

God gave some apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;4:11

Question 1: Which of the above church officers are also called elders?  Scriptures:

Question 2: Who of the above officers rule the church?

Question 3: When there are no elders who set church matter in order?  Scripture:

For the perfecting of the saints, to the work of ministering, to the building up of the body of Christ:4:12

Question 1: What does “perfecting of the saints” mean?

Question 2: What does building up the body of Christ mean?

Till we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man…

Question 1: What does “unity of the faith” mean?

Question 2: What is to be a full grown man in Christ?

That we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine,

by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error. Eph.4:14

1. Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away

    by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. 2Peter 3:17

2. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. Col.2:4

3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not

    to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies.

    These promote controversies rather than God's work-- which is by faith. 1Tim.1:3-4

4. Put away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn

    babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that you may grow up in your salvation. 1Peter 2:1-2

1. Proverb 2:7

    God lays up sound wisdom for the righteous. God is a buckler to them that walk uprightly!

    Question 1: Where are the righteous on this earth?

2. Romans 14:16-18

    Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil.

    For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking,

    but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,

    because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

   Question 1: What is another name for the kingdom of God?

   Question 2: What is in the Holy Spirit mean?

3. Eph.3:10-11

    God’s intent was that now, through the church,

    the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly  

    places, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Question 1: “Through the church” what is the name of this church?

    Question 2: What is “the heavenly places”?

    Question 3: Who are rulers and authorities in the heavenly places?

4. James 1:21

    Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,

    and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

    Question 1: How can men receive the engrafted word to save their souls?

5. 2Peter 1:20-21

    Knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.

    For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spoke from God,

    being moved by the Holy Spirit.

    Question 1: How Bible truth is to be interpreted?

6. 2Peter 1:3

    Seeing that his divine power had granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,

    through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue.

    Question 1: How do we know God’s intended truth is all in the New Testament Bible?

7. 1Cor.2:6-8

    We speak wisdom, however, among them that are full grown:

    Yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing!

    But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the (wisdom) that had been hidden,

    which God foreordained before the worlds unto our glory:

    Which none of the rulers of this world hath known:

    For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory!

8. 1Cor.2:10-12

    But unto us God revealed through the Spirit:

    For the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.

    For who among men know the things of a man, save the spirit of the man, which is in him?

    Even so the things of God none know save the Spirit of God.

    But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God;

    that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God.

9. 1Cor.2:16

    For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?

    But we have the mind of Christ.
