Natural affection and the righteousness of God.
A. Natural affection means special kind of bonding love between kinsmen!
Such as the saying says--> “Blood is thicker than water!”
Even wicked people respect natural affection!
When you see a wicked man harassing a person, you step up to intervene!
The wicked man asked: Who is this to you? You say: He is my brother!
When I intervene to help someone, I say I am the minister of the church!
Even wicked people recognize church is as good as a family!
B. Apostle Paul put it this way
For I could wish that I myself were cut off from Christ for my brothers' sake,
my kinsmen according to the flesh.Ro.9:3
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards
their own family, and to requite their parents:
for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
If any provides not for his own, and specially his own family, he has denied the faith,
and is worse than unbeliever. 1 Tim.5:4,8.
C. Why did Jesus call his mother woman? John 2:1-5
In Cana of Galilee there was a wedding, on the 3rd day, the mother of Jesus was there.
Jesus and his disciple were invited to the wedding.
And lacking wine says the mother of Jesus to him. Wine they have not.
And says to her Jesus what to me and to thee woman?
Not yet is come the hour of me.
Says the mother of him to the servants; whatever he tells you, do ye.
1. In the righteousness of God Jesus’ physical mother is only a woman!
This is to eliminate people to theorize her! Such as the R.C.C. did?
2. His mother was asking him to use his divine power as God!
Only God can turn water into wine at the time!
3. When Jesus called his mother woman, his mother was not offended!
His mother understand and accepted it!
By telling the servants--> Whatever he tells you, do ye!
D. In the church there are only brothers and sisters! Lk.8:19-21
There came to him his mother and brothers, and they could not come at him for the crowd.
And it was told him, “Thy mother and brothers stand without, desiring to see thee.
But he answered and said to them, “My mother and my brothers are these that hear
the word of God and do it.”
E. A scenario was posted to Jesus--> Mk.12:23-27
A woman married to 7 brothers, at the resurrection whose wife will she be?
This question was designed to deny the resurrection of the dead!
This was Jesus’ answer: Mk.12:25
When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage.
They will be like the angels in heaven.
F. Natural affection and evangelism!
1. Cornelius and his kinsmen. Acts 10:1-11:18
An angel told him to send for Peter who will bring message of salvation!
When Peter and his people arrived, Cornelius was waiting for them,
having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.
As a result all his household was saved.
2. The Philippians Jailer and his family. Acts 16:30-34
He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—-
you and your household. Acts 16:31
Then Paul and Silas spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the
others in his house. Acts 16:32
Then immediately he and all his family were baptized. Acts 16:33
He was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—-
he and his whole family. Acts 16:34
