Jesus wept!

Jesus wept! Jn.11:35

A. The dead man came out from his tomb!

1. Jesus wept not for the dead of his friend Lazarus!

2. Jesus wept because the greatest miracle can't persuade those Jews to believe he is the Christ!

3. Jesus said: Whoever lives and believes and in me will never die! Jn.11:26

    Do you believe this?

4. Those Jews did not believe this!  Jesus wept those unbelieving Jews!

B. Jesus persuaded his disciples believed! Matt.16:13-17

1. When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples: Who do people say the Son of Man is? Matt.16:13

2. They replied: Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. Matt.16:14

3. Jesus said: Who do you say I am? Matt.16:15

4. Simon Peter answered: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matt.16:16

5. Jesus replied: Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. Matt.16:17

C. Jesus said: I and the Father are one. Jn.10:30

1. Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them: I have shown you many great miracles from the Father.

For which of these do you stone me? Jn.10:31-32

2. The Jews replied: We are not stoning you for any of these but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God. Jn.10:33

3. Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your Law, `I have said you are gods'? Jn.10:34

4. If he called them `gods,' to whom the word of God came-- and the Scripture cannot be broken --

what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world?

Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, `I am God's Son'? Jn.10:35-36

5. Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. Jn.10:37

6. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. Jn.10:38

7. Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. Jn.10:39

8. Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days.

Here he stayed and many people came to him.

They said: Though John never performed a miraculous sign, all that John said about this man was true. Jn.10:40-41

9. And in that place many believed in Jesus. Jn.10:42

D. Anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. Jn.8:51

1. I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. Jn.8:51

2. At this the Jews exclaimed: Now we know that you are demon-possessed!

Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that if anyone keeps your word, he will never taste death. Jn.8:52

3. Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are? Jn.8:53

4. Jesus replied: If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.Jn.8:54

5. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. Jn.8:55

6. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. Jn.8:56

7. The Jews said to him: You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham! Jn.8:57)

8. Jesus answered: I tell you the truth before Abraham was born, I am! Jn.8:58

9. At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. Jn.8:59

E. Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God. Matt.26:63-67

1. The high priest said to him: I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God. Matt.26:63

2. Jesus replied: Yes, it is as you say!

But I say to all of you:

In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven. Matt.26:64

3. Then the high priest tore his clothes and said: He has spoken blasphemy!

Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. 26:65

4. “What do you think?" "He is worthy of death," they answered. Matt.26:66

5. Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him. Matt.26:67

*** They succeeded in murdered Jesus on the cross!
