Distress is expected the difference is how we face it!

Distress is expected the difference is how we face it!

A. Jesus made it clear! Jn.16:33

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this

world you will have distress. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

   1. Understanding what the scripture says:

      a. In the Lord we may have peace. In this world we will have distress.

      b. But don’t worry, cheep up!  The Lord Jesus had overcome the world.

      c. As long as we live on the world, we will have to face distress!

      d. If we like to have peace we must get into the Lord!

Because the scripture says, in the Lord we may have peace!

      e. “Take heart” means cheep up or don’t worry!

To me this is great comfort!

Knowing there will be distress, how can we cheep up or not worry!

      f. Jesus had overcome the world!  Why is this important!?

B. How may we overcome distress while living in this world!

   1. John the Apostle has a suggestion for us! 1 John 5:4

For everyone born of God overcomes the world.

This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

It is clear, our salvation always been God’s love plus our faith!

Jesus declared: He who believe and is baptized will be saved! Mk.16:16

   2. The saints in the church has to live in this world by faith!

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness

that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:

"The righteous will live by faith." Ro.1:17

   3. Faith without works is dead! James 2:17, 26

You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his

faith was made complete by what he did. James 2:22

   4. It is the word of the Lord that save us!

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent

and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Ja.1:21

   5. Benefit is completed at time of doing what the word says!

But he that looks into the perfect law, the (law) of liberty, and (so)

continues, being not a hearer that forget but a doer that works, this

man shall be blessed in his doing. (James 1:25

C. Practical suggestions in overcoming stress by faith:

   1. Heb.13:6--> The Lord is my helper; I’ll not be afraid. …

It is simple and easy, “I will not be afraid!”

Make this a reality!  God is here with me always!  I am not afraid!

   2. 1 Cor.10:13-->  There is no temptation taken you but such as man can

bear; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above

that you are able to bear; but will with the temptation make also the

way of escape, that you may be able to endure.

No distress is beyond what I can bear!  Therefore, I am not afraid.

   3. Matt.10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.

Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

If you do not know then I have to tell you, the ultimate distress is

death of the body!  If we can overcome this one, nothing can scare us!

God is the one who determine how long we live on this world! Acts 17:26

   4. Phil.1:21-23--> For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am

to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me.

Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!  I am torn between the two:

I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.

May God bless you and keep you always! June 18, 2010
