A. 1 Peter 3:10-12
Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from
evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and
do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord
are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but
the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
1. Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech.
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your
father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding
to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks
his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.Jn.8:44
Simply let your `Yes' be `Yes,' and your `No,' `No'; anything beyond
this comes from the evil one. Matt.5:37
2. You must turn from evil and do good.
For the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
What does it mean to do good? Mark 3:1-5
Jesus went into a synagogue, a man with a withered hand was there.
They watched him whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day. 3:2
He said to them is it lawful to do good or to do harm, to save life
or to kill on the Sabbath day? 3:4
Jesus looked about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening
of their heart, he said to the man, stretch forth your hand.
He stretched his hand forth, and his hand was restored. Mk.3:5
3. You must seek peace and pursue it.
4. You must do what is righteous.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are
attentive to their prayer.
B. Phil.4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever
is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
these things.
C. Eph.4:17-19
1. Paul said to the people in the church at his time: I exhort solemnly
in the Lord.
This can only mean, one must obey in real life!
2. As a member of the church, a child of God, you must not live like
those who are outside of the church!
3. Their mind has been depraved and their faculty of understanding have
been covered with darkness.
4. Their soul or mind is insensible to truth, honor or shame!
They have no dignity, no decency, no honor, no shame!
Lying has become their natural part of life!
5. They gave themselves up to indulge in profligate living and desire
to have more.
