Read my lips and mark my words!
Last Sunday in my preaching I repeat a famous speech by old George Bush
when he first run for the presidency, he promised his voters by saying:
Read my lips and mark my words, no new tax.
But during his 1st term presidency, he failed to live up to his promise and
his famous speech came back to haunt him and he lost the re-election.
He became a few of those one term president in the United States of America!
Last Sunday I said this:
Read my lips and mark my words, besides the churches of Christ there is no Jesus’ believers!
I repeat it and said, I challenge the whole world to see if anyone can use it to against me!
Why can I be so sure that there is no one in this whole world can use what I said here to
against me?
1. Yes, there were Jews who having believed Jesus recorded in John chapter 8 verse 31 to
verse 59.
You know what?
In John chapter 8 verse 44 Jesus called those Jews who having believed him
as children of the devil!
I know some theologians will read their English translation and say, those
Jews had believed Jesus!
Later they dropped out and became non-believers and that is why they became
as Jesus said, children of the devil!
Those English translators thought they were smart to detect if they do
translate the original Greek word says, then they cannot live to say,
Jesus called his own believers as children of the devil!
So they translated the word as had believed!
Even now, I had make it clear why did Jesus say that!
Why it happened that way!
But they will say, who is this Mr. John Chan!?
He is a no body! How can such a one knows this thing correctly!
This is why they are hopeless!
2. There may be Jesus’ believers in other churches such as those in Matthew chapter 7
verse 22!?
Jesus said, those people claim to preach in his name, cast out demons in his name
and did many mighty works in his name!
If someone come to you and show you they can preach in Jesus’ name,
cast out demons in his name and do many mighty works in his name,
you will say, these must be men of God. They are blessed and empowered by God!
But in Matt.7:23, Jesus called them evil doers!
So according to what Jesus said, these were evil doers believers!
3. How can I be so sure, one has to be in the church of Christ to know the
truth in the Bible.
Or all those who know the truth in the Bible are in the churches of Christ!
This one you can’t ask any theologian in English culture to understand!
The logic is in this famous Chinese saying: 名正言顺 Ming zheng, yan shun!
The best I can translate this is this.
For the speech to be smooth, the name has to be correct!
Plus that I have confidence in what the Bible says!
Proverb 2:7 says--> God lays up sound wisdom for the upright!
Anyone who got caught in a denomination church can never be upright!
Therefore he has no chance to receive sound wisdom from God!
4. When I say Jesus’ believers, you know I mean the true Jesus’ believers!
By the true Jesus’ believers, I mean the saved Jesus’ believers!
According to Acts 2:47 the saved believers were added into the church!
In the first 500 years since the death of Jesus Christ, besides the churches of Christ
there is no other churches! Romans 16:16
A church that started later than the church established in Jerusalem is man made
and is void of salvation! Acts 2:1-42, Mark 7:7
Ro.6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Col.1:18 says, the church is the body of Christ!
To be saved that is to have eternal life, one has to be in the body of Christ!
