Recognizing the jealousy of God! 2Cor.11:2-4
A. 2 Cor.11:2-4--> I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I betrothed you to Christ to present you as a pure bride to her husband. Bur I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if some one comes and preaches another Jesus than the one we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you submit to it readily enough.
1. “Divine jealousy” in original text is jealousy of God!
This means God requires exclusive loyalty and whole-hearted worship to him!
2. From 1Cor.9 and 2Cor.11 we know Paul put up so much to convert those people!
He told them anyone preaches a different gospel will be condemned! Gal.1:8
He told them not to have anything to do with denomination people.
Because they are warped, sinful and self-condemned! Titus 3:10-11 Apostle John also told them not to associate those do not teach the same!
3. But you know what they did?
When others come teach a different gospel, they submit to it readily enough!
4. All these years, I am aggravated, when I see a young man pick up bad habit
Such as use their father’s hard earn money to buy pants with holes!
But clothes with movie stars pictures, wear hair style started by punks…
This is the question deep in my heart:
Why is it, so hard for them to listen to what the Bible says!
Why is it, so easy for them to follow punks…! Yes, apostle Paul had this kind of problems too!
B. Deu.4:23-24-->
Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the
Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image in the
form of anything which Jehovah thy God hath forbidden thee.
For Jehovah thy God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Lev.10:1-3 explain this clear enough!
Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire
therein, and laid incense thereon, and offered strange fire before God,
which he had not commanded them.
And there came forth fire from before God,
and consumed them, and they died before God. Then Moses said unto Aaron:
This is it that Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be sanctified in them that
come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.
C. Jn.2:13-17--> … Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found in the temple those that sold oxen and
sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: and
he made a scourge of cords, and cast all out of the temple, both the sheep
and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their
tables; and to them that sold the doves he said, Take these things hence;
make not my Father's house a house of merchandise. His disciples remembered
that it was written, Zeal for thy house shall eat me up.
Here we learned, in the New Testament there is no physical destruction!
D. How dreadful can it be to fall into the hands of the living God?!
1. For we know him that said, vengeance belongs unto me, I will recompense.
And again, The Lord shall judge his people. Heb.10:30-31
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
2. Listen to Jesus’ warning! Matt.10:28
And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
3. People afraid of ghost! But ghost afraid of Jesus! Lk.8:28
And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a
loud voice said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most
High God? I beseech thee, torment me not.
E. Conclusion: In the meantime we continue to practice Ro.12:19!
