The example of Jesus¡¯ Mother!.

       The example of Jesus’ Mother!.

A. The task was given to Mary!

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about:

His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together,

she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Matt.1:18

1. Mary found favor with God. Luke 1:30

2. She risked losing her man Joseph! It was a lost of living livelihood!

3. She could be stoned to death as an adulterous woman!

B. She is a woman worthy of the task! Luke 1:45-50

5. His mother said to him: Son, why did you bring this sorrow to us!

Jesus said: Why are you searching for me?

Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house? Lk.2:49

6. As mother, Mary had great moments in her up bringing of Jesus!

Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Lk.2:52

How wonderful would it be, if all mothers rewarded with this kind of child!

7. Watch her son suffered so much humiliation, physical pains and died a horrible death on the cross!

Yes, she was rewarded with a resurrected son!

D. Why did Jesus call his mother woman?

1. At the wedding occasion, when wine was out,

Mary said to Jesus: They have no more wine.

Jesus said to her: Woman, what have I to do with you?Jn.2:1-4

2. People told Jesus: Your mother and brothers standing out side, wanted to see you!

He said: Who is my mother and my brothers?

He looked around and said: Behold these are my mother and my brothers.

For whoever shall do the will of God is my brother, and sister and mother.Mk.3:31-35

3. At time of dying on the cross, near the cross stood his mother, …

Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he said to his mother,

“Woman, behold you son,” and to his disciple: Here is your mother.

From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.Jn.19:25-27

***So that all may know, she is no more saint than other saints in the church!

E. Life of the soul is more important than life of the flesh!

The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. John 6:63

4. Jesus said: For whoever shall do the will of God is my brother, and sister and mother. Mark 3:35

5. Apostle Paul said:

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me,

if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—

the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. Acts 20:24

May God bless you always! Preach this on Mother’s day. May 8, 2011.
