Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you!
Scriptures for this study:
1. Yes, Jesus said these: Lk.6:27-31
But I say unto you that hear, love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,
bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.
To him that smites thee on the cheek offer also the other;
and from him that takes away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also.
Give to every one that asks thee; and of him that takes away thy goods ask them not again.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
2. Jesus also said these: Lk.22:35-38
And he said unto them, when I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything?
And they said, nothing. And he said unto them:
But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet;
and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.
For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me,
and he was reckoned among lawless people: for the things concerning me have an end.
3. Attention: There are 28 ‘a time to’ in Ecc.3:1-8!
There’s a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, ….
4. God is the one who set the time! Acts 17:26-27
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth,
and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him,
though he be not far from every one of us:
5. This sword is for punishing evildoer! Ro.13:1-4
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities,
for there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God.
Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted,
and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves for he is God's servant to do you good.
But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing.
He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
6. Jesus would not let lawless people murder him before his time! Jn.7:1-10
a. The Jews sought to kill him. Jn.7:1
b. His brothers wanted him to be killed! 7:2-5
c. Jesus said: My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready! 7:6
***It is still true! Wicked people always have the convenience when come to do evil!
They chose the time and place!
Law abiding people have to go through so much trouble to get their justice!
30 years ago in Manhattan side of Williamsburg Bridge a man robbed a lady of $50.00
The lady yell for help. Many responded and arrested the man!
But he said, all those who arrested him are a lot more evil than he!
Here was his reasoning--> If we let him rob and let him go free. We lose only $50.
Now that we arrested him! So many police cars and officers came! We waste so much more!
We have to build jail house, pay for judges, lawyers, cooks,…
We have to admit in a way, what he said is reality then and now!
7. This was what Jesus did for his physical safety!
a. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built,
in order to throw him down the cliff.
But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way. Lk.4:29-30
b. They took up stones therefore to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple. Jn.8:59
8. This Jesus’ brother James advice: James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
