The birth of a church of Christ.

Feast 12.5 January 27, 2012.

Subject: The birth of a church of Christ.

Scriptures for this study:

1. Matt.16:18-->

   I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church,

   and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

2. 1 Cor.16:19-->

   The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings.

   Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.

3. Col.4:15-->

   Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

4. Philemon 1:2-->

   to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church that meets in your home:

5. Lk.8:11--> Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

6. Mk.16:15-16-->

   And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

   He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieve shall be condemned.

7. Acts 18:1-11-->

   After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth.

   And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race,

   lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla,

   because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome:

   and he came unto them; and because he was of the same trade, he abode with them, and they wrought,

   for by their trade they were tentmakers.

   And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

   But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia,

   Paul was constrained by the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

   And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed,

   he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood upon your own heads;

   I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

   And he departed thence, and went into the house of a certain man named Titus Justus,

   one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

   And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house;

   and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

   And the Lord said unto Paul in the night by a vision,

   Be not afraid, but speak and hold not thy peace:

   for I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to harm thee:

   for I have much people in this city.

   And he dwelt a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

8. Acts 2:41-42-->

   They then that received his word were baptized:

   and there were added to the church in that day about three thousand souls.

   And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship,

   in the breaking of bread and the prayers.

9. Acts 13:1-5-->

   Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was prophets and teachers, Barnabas,

   and Symeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene,

   and Manaen the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

   And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said,

   Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

   Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them,

   they sent them away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia;

   and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. And when they were at Salamis,

   they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant.

Conclusion:

  The one gospel produces the one kind of Church! Gal.1:6-12

  I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in the grace of Christ unto a different gospel;

  which is not another only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

  But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you,

  let him be condemned….
