Please do not say: I am saved because I am a good man!

Please do not say: I am saved because I am a good man!

Someone likes to say: I am a good man. I love people. I believe I am saved!

A. Noah was a righteous man in the sight of God! Gen.6:9

1. Noah was a righteous man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

2. God said to Noah: The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them;

   and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Gen.6:13-14

3. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear,

   prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world,

   and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Heb.11:7

4. Noah was a righteous man, he has faith to do what God said, prepared an ark to the saving of himself and his family!

5. To all good men on earth:

   Please be sure to do what Noah did!

   Have faith in God, walk with God and do what God says.

   Not one good man I had met, do what Noah did!!!

B. Can anyone be as good as Cornelius? Acts 10:1-2, 22

1. There was a man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian,

   a devout man, and one that feared God with all his family,

   who gave much alms to the people and prayed to God always.Ac.10:1-2

2. And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feared God,

   and well reported by all the nation of the Jews,

   was warned by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee!Ac.10:22

3. Cornelius was a righteous man and feared God!

   He still have to listen to gospel preaching to know the way of salvation!

4. May all the good men on earth live like Cornelius, fear God, give much alms to the people and pray to God always!

5. So far all the good men I have met, not one fear God, not one pray to God!

   All those who said: I am a good man. I love people. I am saved.

   Not one willing to come to listen to gospel preaching!

C. Here is a legalistic perfect man-->Paul! Phil.3:2-6

1. Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision.

2. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God,

   and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Phil.3:3

3. Though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh:

   if any other man think to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more…Phil.3:4-5

4. As touching zeal, persecuting the church;

   as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. Phil.3:6

5. May all the “good men” learn from this legalistic perfect man!

   What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,

   for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ. Phil.3:8

D. May all good men aware of these!

1. If we say that we have not sinned, we make God a liar… 1 John 1:10

   When one said, I am a good man, I love people, I am saved!

   He made God a liar!  This by itself is a very serious offense to God!

2. Jesus said: I said therefore to you: You shall die in your sins,

   if you do not believe I am Christ, the Lord! John 8:24

   When one said: I am a good man. I love people. I am saved!

   He made Christ, the Lord a liar! Surely he will die in his sins!

3. When a good man said, I am saved, he repudiate the Lord’s command!

   This is the Lord’s command! Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

   He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

   but he that believe not shall be condemned. Mark 16:15-16

4. Can one be so ignorant and naïve be a saved good man!? I do not think so!

May the Lord bless you and keep you always. Preach this on February 19, 2012
