Living a life that is pleasing to God!
Scripture for this study: Matt.6:33
Seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these thing shall be added unto you!
A. Understanding what says in the scripture!
1. His kingdom is the church! One whose life is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit will know this when he reads Eph.2:19.
2. Seek his righteousness is not seeking to do the right thing in life!
It is seeking to live a life that is pleasing to God!
3. And all these things shall be added unto you!
From the scripture context in Matt.6:19-34 we know these things are food to eat, water to drink,
clothes to wear and shelters to live in.
These are things needed for the body to live!
4. The scripture says, one should seek first the things for the church and live a life pleasing to God!
We know in reality, the reverse is truth! People seek first the things for the life of the body!
Most seek only the things for the body!
B. Jesus explained what seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness mean!
It is about where your heart is! Matt.6:19-21
Jesus said: Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. Matt.6:19
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy,
and where thieves do not break in and steal! Matt.6:20
***Here is the reason--> For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also!
C. Real life example for illustration!
1. Jesus said to the Pharisees:
Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs,
but you neglect justice and the love of God.
You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone! Luke 11:42
***This is the European believers’ deadly mistake!
They give a tenth of their income to their churches, but neglect justice and the love of God!
They sign up for their government to take a tenth of their income along with tax they have to pay
at the same time and the tenth send to their churches automatically!
How wonderful it is!
But they leave justice and the love of God undone!
By not attending church worship each Sunday is a sure sign of leaving the love of God undone!
While calling for Governments to stop punishing their people,
they should also call for the people to obey government laws!
Laws are established for people to obey!
2. Here is how you store treasures in heaven! Phil.4:15-19
You yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel,
when I departed from Macedonia, no church had fellowship with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only;
for even in Thessalonica you sent once and again unto my need.
Not that I seek for the gift but I seek for the fruit that increase to your account.
But I have all things, and abound; I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things from you,
and odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.
And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
3. To live a life pleasing to God is to be a man of God! 1 Timothy 6:6-11
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires
that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief.
But you man of God, flee all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
May the Lord bless you and keep you always! Preach this on February 26, 2012.
